General discussion / UK v Russia
March 17, 2018, 01:20:21 PM
What do people think of this? The UK seemed to have reached conclusions long before anything has been proven. Woe betide anybody who doesn't weigh in behind the jingoistic Government line. The rapidity & rashness  of the response is worrying imo. Boris and the Defence Secretary Gavin Williamson 2 utter clowns as per normal.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/07/08/exclusive-teenager-takes-bet365-court-1m-won-horse-races/

Happened during the Summer but only coming to court this week. The crux of the matter being 365 says she was a front for a syndicate and in breach of 'no 3rd party' rules. It'll be interesting to see how this pans out, in a previous similar (Barney Curley)case the bookie had to pay out.

Marie Conlon: Man charged with theft and fraud offences - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-41606401

Strange one this, something not right about it. 3 years, no work colleagues, social services sticking their noses in, no social media interaction for 3 years in this day and age is bound to be another red flag.

General discussion / La Vuelta 2017
August 19, 2017, 04:20:21 PM
Favourite GT about to kick off.

Looking even more brutal than normal this year, L'Angliru back and some other monstrosities.

Hard to look past Froome, he looked like a boy that started the Tour on 3/4 power to try and save a bit for this. He likes La Vuelta.

General discussion / Can cramps cause damage?
August 02, 2017, 12:20:58 AM
On return from holidays I went hard at it on the bike for a week to try and shift the holiday weight. One day I took 3 cramps simultaneously, 1 in my left hammy, 1 on the same leg but at the side of my thigh and another side of the thigh cramp on the other leg. I've never experienced anything like it in my life, I was on the verge of passing out. The hammy hasn't been the same since and is twitching like mad. Could a bad cramp do real damage? Google says no. Can still cycle but doubt I'm helping matters.

General discussion / Tour de France 2017
June 30, 2017, 06:42:57 PM
Kicks off in Germany 2moro

Overall betting with Skybet-

Froome 11/8
Porte 9/4
Quintana 6/1
Contador 14/1
Aru 14/1
Chaves 50/1

Open enough betting for a change. Porte has the form going in and it could be a generous 9/4, possible value in Quintana if he's came out of the Giro ok. Chaves is a big price there , 1/4 odds for top 3.

Ropey enough weather forecast for a few days, some of the big guns normally come a cropper.

Great to see the Nectarines back in season and on sale at a reasonable price, totally worth the Hives they give me. Not fussed on peaches funnily enough.

Should Admins should be able to ban posters for persistent gobshitery? This board is being polluted with nonsense on a consistent basis.

General discussion / 2 former Nuns joined in Civil Union
September 29, 2016, 11:23:07 AM
From the 'i' Newspaper 29/9/16

Two former nuns, who fell in love while working at a rehabilitation centre treating drug addicts, we're joined in Civil Union in the small town of Pinarello, Italy yesterday. The women, identified in the Italian press by their first names, have renounced being nuns.

General discussion / La Vuelta 2016
August 19, 2016, 10:57:31 AM
My favourite GT of the year, always the most entertaining. A fair bit of talent at the top of the betting but a few weak looking squads overall.

Contador 2/1
Froome 3/1
Quintana 7/2
Chaves 6/1
Kruijswijk 12/1

Looking forward to seeing how Kruijswijk goes, unlucky in the Giro. I'd expect Contador & Quintana to battle it out for the win as they've the most to prove (& seasons to save),  Froome always seems to want to have a rattle at it, if he stays safe he's an obvious danger.

General discussion / Car Ferry
July 31, 2016, 01:52:21 PM
Been plenty of times on the Ferry to watch the Super Celts but never took a car, so a Ferry Virgin.

Looking at prices for Dublin-Holyhead it looks dear. Who is the best company to book with considering the strength of the €€€ at present - it is presumably influencing the cost in my searches (in NI)?  I assume it's best to book early like with the airlines?

General discussion / Tour de France 2016
July 02, 2016, 11:40:56 AM
About to get under way. I much prefer the Giro & Vuelta tbh but it should be good this year.

If I was having a bet I'd go for Quintana at 2/1 for overall ( Froome 6/4).

They can expect crosswind hell today.

They're all on drugs anyway.

General discussion / Kids Birthday Parties
April 28, 2016, 08:52:29 PM
I dunno if it's just me, but are kids birthday parties getting ino a weddingesque cycle of parents trying to outdo each other? Some of the parties my kids have been to must have cost an arm & a leg.

GAA Discussion / Armagh v Derry
March 29, 2016, 10:04:48 PM
Enough winding with the Tyronies.

I have backed Armagh to draw the past 2 games :) I can see 3 in a row tbh.

McKeever to come in would be the only change I'd welcome at this stage.
