Laois / Laois Senior Football Championship 2024
July 23, 2024, 09:01:10 PM
Starts tomorrow night with Ballyroan Abbey v The Heath.
BA should win this.
Port v O'Dempsey's is hard to call. I think O'D's to edge it.
Clonaslee could pull off a shock against a very understrength Emo.
Strad to beat Rosenallis comfortably enough.
Killeen to edge Ballyfin.
Joseph's to beat Graigue by around 5.
Portlaoise could beat Ballylinan by maybe 10.
Killeshin v Courtwood - Killeshin with Roche and Lowry back might edge this.

Soft penalty. Game over I'd imagine.

Thought it was a very poor game for long spells.
But the longer it went on, the more Laois realised that it was winnable.
The goals were obviously crucial but so too was Kildare's inaccuracy. They kicked some unbelievable wides.
Great to win it though.

I thought the teams who qualified directly (Kildare, Down, Sligo and Fermanagh) got a home tie.

Kildare are homeless!

I used to make them most of the time but I have been sick lately and didn't have the energy to do it. I'm getting better slowly so hopefully I can get back to it. Thank you for keeping it going....
Hope you're feeling better soon.

To be fair to the county board, the leagues are massively improved from what they used to be. Not too many walkovers in the top divisions although in the lower divisions, there's still a good few.
Chances are (unless Laois pull off a couple of good results) that the last couple of games in the leagues will be played with county players avaialble which should suit the likes of Portlaoise, Josephs and Killeshin.

Poor enough in Aughrim today but a win is a win and we have a kinda free shot in the Fermanagh game now.
Hard to pick out performances. Kelly was good on Quinn, shows how much of a loss he was in the Offaly game. Evan worked hard. Murphy was brave throughout. But thought Kingston and Barry were way off it.

What a great start to the JMD. Should be well capable of beating Meath next day out but need to be wary of both Down and Kerry while Westmeath despite their result yesterday will be a very tough game.
A lot of hurling to be done.
Very impressed with Tom Cuddy, Corby, Dooley and of course Paddy. Rowland excellent again too although as someone else said, maybe he could change it up a bit with the long range frees.
Wouldn't be impossible that we'll meet Offaly again. That would be great for hurling in the county.

When was the rule that the GAA President's son can't be sent off introduced? I must've missed that one.

Terrible.
That's a very poor Offaly team so leaves us miles off the level needed for Division 3/Tailteann Cup.
Obviously the sending off cost us but an awful lot of the scores including the two goals we conceded were self inflicted.
Very few positives to take from tonight. Fitzpatrick possibly our best player. Evan starved of ball. The other 4 forwards were terrible.
I think one of our greatest ever players Mark Timmons is almost done.

Good starts to the top division by Ballyroan Abbey, St Joseph's and surprisingly Courtwood.
Portarlington seem to be in bother. Beat Ballyfin the other night but looks a shadow team compared to the 3 in a row line up.
