ARTICLE 1

The Irish nation hereby affirms its inalienable, indefeasible, and sovereign right to choose its own form of Government, to determine its relations with other nations, and to develop its life, political, economic and cultural, in accordance with its own genius and traditions.

ARTICLE 2

It is the entitlement and birthright of every person born in the island of Ireland, which includes its islands and seas, to be part of the Irish Nation. That is also the entitlement of all persons otherwise qualified in accordance with law to be citizens of Ireland. Furthermore, the Irish nation cherishes its special affinity with people of Irish ancestry living abroad who share its cultural identity and heritage.

ARTICLE 3

1 It is the firm will of the Irish nation, in harmony and friendship, to unite all the people who share the territory of the island of Ireland, in all the diversity of their identities and traditions, recognising that a united Ireland shall be brought about only by peaceful means with the consent of a majority of the people, democratically expressed, in both jurisdictions in the island. Until then, the laws enacted by the Parliament established by this Constitution shall have the like area and extent of application as the laws enacted by the Parliament that existed immediately before the coming into operation of this Constitution.

People will need to see what's replacing it before the Referendum.

Firstly folks in the 6 Cos have to vote in large numbers for pro United Ireland parties, next opportunity Stormont election.

It might or might not but the biggest supporters of a proposal not saying what they want is a first.

Excerpt from a "Rural Ireland" survey (26 Cos only I presume)

Three out of five people living in rural Ireland now want to see a united Ireland.

The latest Irish Examiner/Ipsos B&A Rural Ireland Thinks survey has also shown that the number of rural dwellers who "strongly agree" that there should be unity on the island has increased from 34% in 2024, to 38% in the latest poll.

While the number of people who agree with a united Ireland now stands at 59%, almost one in 10 (9%) are still strongly against the idea.

"No GAA in July and August"?

On Friday, Munster GAA revealed there was a 4% increase in adult championship activity across July and August. A total of 1,538 games were played between Gaelic football and hurling, up 59 from 2025. Of that number, 970 were hurling and 627 were football.

The totals per county were Cork 419, Tipperary 369, Limerick 302, Waterford 207, Clare 171 and Kerry 129. It's the third year the province have tracked the games.

"The number of games sustained that are relatively constant and very impressive," said Leddy. "If we didn't have the split season, I'm not sure we could play the volume of club games intertwined with the inter-county season. I'm not sure it would be practical or possible."

In reality a new All Ireland Agreement will need to keep a lot of the GFA provisions just as a new Constitution will keep many of the provisions of the existing Bunreacht na hÉireann.

An awful lot of negotiating, devising and agreeing to be done.

Meanwhile Sinn Féin and its adherents will sit on the sidelines parroting "The Taoiseach has to do it"

And power sharing at National, or Federal or Confederate level?

It won't be a case of incorporating the 6 into the 26.
It also won't be an extension of South Armagh across the other 31 and a half Counties.

The dual nationality provision in the GFA will remain for 6 Cos (born?) people.
So some kind of local body or autonomy will be required for that area.

What powers it might have....
Independent like Channel islands?
Lot of local powers like Scotland?
Very few powers other than education, car registration plates, Housing Executive, Planning Acts...

Most likely option 3.

Will the new Ireland be a Federal or Confederate State with 2 sub regions?
Will the new Ireland have an executive or figurehead President?
Will there be a joint Presidency, 1 elected separately in the 2 areas?

First ALL the pro UI parties
should be setting out their visions of the new Ireland.
Then convene some forum (like the New Ireland Forum 1980s) to tease out the practilities and see can a concensus be arrived at.
