Terence has spoken on the "off the ball" podcast.

He has a point that the kids aren't exposed at a high enough level soon enough, but what comes first, do you need to competitive at U14 up before you get that exposure or do you take the hammerings in the hope that some of the team are able to survive at this level when they get older?

They would have strangled at birth any sort of shift to nationalisation etc that he was planning.

No matter who you elect, the government is still in control.

Not with an overwhelming majority

I suppose the CIA would have overthrown him...

The permanent secretaries over all the different ministries aren't from council estates if you catch my drift...

Quote from: ulstergael on February 03, 2026, 04:28:16 PMLooking a bit of guidance from posters who have had a hand in developing club gyms.

My club are looking at a development project involving installing a steel-fab shed on club grounds, and fitting it out with a full spec gym.

Any advice on the following:
- Recommendations for steel manufacturers who specialise in these kind of builds (around Ulster preferably)
- Recommendations for Gym fit-out providers for small community gym
- Approx costs of the different stages of development
- Any aspects you'd do differently if doing it over again

Thanks.

Best advice I could give on this would be to avoid the prefab shed option if possible and if not to fit an air circulation/recovery system.

Did you find there were condensation issues with a shed? Air circulation/condition can be expensive.

We've one of those prefabs and condensation is a pig even after insulating it.
You will need a heat source and ventilation in there to negate condensation.

Quote from: groundlie on February 09, 2026, 02:09:51 PMThis team is the product of seriously underperforming underage teams for the last two decades. I do not blame the players at all, collectively their level is their level.
When was our last competitive minor teams? 05/06 under Sambo if am correct. Yes, we have a decent club game but intercounty is an entirely different animal.

The heat on Davy may actually provide a welcome distraction from how flawed our underage to senior system is within the county. My opinion is our fingers should be pointing elsewhere rather than the convenient scapegoat from Clare.

That said, it's highly possible we could finish on 4 point. It's looking unlikely but I wouldn't be surprised if we turn Carlow and Down over.

You'd still go down on the head to head with Kildare.

Quote from: ck on February 09, 2026, 11:45:34 AMI'll call a spade a spade here. When you have Managers who come in and whos sole motivation is money then you will always hit problems. It's evident both in hurling and football at the moment. They treat players as commodities and not as players. Players have walked from football set up. Likely in hurling too from what I am hearing.

One thing is for sure, Davy won't be at fault here, it will be the players, the culture etc that were the issue.

It was the same in Clare the last time and with Wexford also.

Quote from: DaleCooper on February 08, 2026, 09:08:34 PMLabour Peer Lord Glasman reporting back from DC inauguration.

"The brutal truth is that the vast majority of people I met, and I met many during the last week, consider our Labour Government to be a front organisation for paedophiles and Pakistani rape gangs. They consider our position on the Chagos Islands an example of progressive idiocy and our appointment of Peter Mandelson an unnecessary provocation. Several people showed me a photograph of him blowing out the birthday candles with Jeffrey Epstein.

Extract from: 'The Age of Restoration: UK-US Memorandum' - Strategy Document for Morgan McSweeney

The Chagos Islands deal was agreed by the previous Tory Gov.

Also,
guess who Mandelson rents his gaff from?

It isn't a Russian Oligarch, no it's a Rothschild.

Who knew?

I think it's out of your hands now TBH.

You have Carlow and Dublin at home next up.

Carlow is possible for the win, but I really can't see you getting anything from Dublin who will be pushing hard for promotion. Anything is possible, but there would need to be a serious, marked improvement in form and even when Antrim was going well with the big Gleeson, the Dubs had the better of most of those exchanges.

Then the final game v us in Ballycran in Newry and at that point unless we can take a point or two off Kildare (in Ballycran) before that then this is a dead rubber as Kildare will have you on the head to head if both are on 4 points.

Is it?

I don't understand teams standing off Cork as they thrive on space and movement.

Get in their faces and go at them and I think they will falter.

I think the TMO watched the ads more than the actual replays he was meant to watch.

But, yes they were a pain in the hole.
