Quote from: jcpen on Today at 07:20:24 AMBad week for all English clubs apart from Villa. Probably not good news for English clubs having a 5th slot in the Champions League.

Yeah that's gone now.

It was clear from the 1st game at Villa Park that Lille had something about them and that the return leg was going to be a tough evening.  Martinez was outstanding in both legs and would probably be the main reason Villa are through. He's certainly the best keeper I ever remember Villa having on the books.

Quote from: lurganblue on April 17, 2024, 02:46:27 PMThe margins on pizza's must be fantastic, surely.

Was told this before yes. People seem happy to pay money for a pizza that they wouldn't pay for say a Chinese or a chippy.

Mate bought the stove and all the malarkey that goes with it.. not worth the hassle, its far cheaper to order

I bought a stone that goes in the oven, wasn't dear but should of bought a paddle too. Works well but even with that there's a lot of work with the dough etc. They are really good when you go to the hassle though

Ah here I was at this last summer too. I bought a pizza stone and stuck it in the gas bbq. Made the dough and all that. It's defo worth doing as something a bit different for the family. An ooni would be better I'm sure.

If this weather ever wised up I'd be ready to give it another whirl.

Quote from: square_ball on April 18, 2024, 08:43:20 AMI seen on Facebook the cafe in Rushmere Shopping Centre in Craigavon got their rates bill of £71k through the post! That is crazy money and when you throw in rent, staff, electric, stock and all the rest you would have to sell some amount of fish and chips to cover that on a daily basis.

I heard talk of that. Out of curiosity how does that compare to town centre rates in Lurgan/Portadown? Rushmere is flying at the minute and is usually packed. They'd have much more footfall there than in a town site.

I think he's a bit
of an acquired taste

 Shall we have another?

Oasis, maybe?

One I havent acquired but I'll certainly take some of these suggestions on board and give some of his songs another rattle.

"When his business opened, Mr McLaughlin was charging about £8.50 for a fish supper but with the cost of potatoes and other items doubling, he has had to put up his prices to £14 for the same order.

"There will come a time when I can't continue to keep putting up prices to facilitate rising costs. We are at the ceiling of where people are prepared to pay and what they can afford to pay," he said."

14 quid for a fish supper, scandalous

Tv car ads. Every single one of them is electric. Is that all they are allowed to push now?

Quote from: J70 on April 14, 2024, 06:28:52 PMIt's f**king depressing. Year after year Petrostate FC sweeping up all around them.

Teams with the most money buy the best players.

When has it ever been any different?

Not in my lifetime.

City have been spending above the budget cap and cooking the books to hide it. Their accounting and law department is bigger than the FA complete administrative organisation.
Would have been nice for another club to win PL but I'm hoping Liverpool can finish second for moral bragging rights if nothing else. On another subject I think Villa are doing a fantastic job this year and making the three above them look silly like Watkins is only one goal off PL top scorer.

Watkins has went up a level this year. He should go to the euros but Southgate is reluctant to change his style to suit him when Kane is unavailable.

The likes of tielemans on a free has been great business. I don't think he's a guaranteed starter if the squad is fully fit but by God has he been useful for large parts of the season.

I have to say Peter Drury wore me down a little yesterday. Repeatedly roaring "And Bakayo Saka" or "And Leandro Trossard" with every half chance. Maybe I should have put this in the gear grinding thread.  ;D

I actually turned it off with a couple of holes to go. Scheffler was never going to lose that and the chasing pack were mostly crumbling.

That swing follow through of scheffler's is mad. It looks to be an injury waiting to happen.

I didn't think it was a red but it was very close to being one. He can count himself lucky

Quote from: From the Bunker on April 14, 2024, 08:02:42 PMThe bigger picture with Villa is that they played a weakened side v City 11 days ago, so they'd be fresh for Brentford on that weekend. Which sort of backfired in a 3-3 draw. Villa did no such thing against Arsenal today. And that's what you're up against. City have made team afraid of them, that you'll get noting - even if you try. Arsenal don't have that.

Liverpool won't be playing a weakened Villa side either.

I take your point but villa easily beat city in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. Emery took the foot off the gas for this meeting yes as the squad was struggling with injuries and Brentford and Lille to come.

Just out of the cinema there after watching the Amy Winehouse film. You know what you are getting with these music biographies but it was very enjoyable. A tortured soul with an abundance of talent. Sad.

Reddit would be one of the more popular i'd say.  It's such a huge community though.  You can narrow it to more specific areas of interest.
