Could SF/Snapchap tell us how the Hospital overspend could have been avoided without it being a basic 4 walls, roof and long rows of beds?

Wouldn't it have been a good place to start to set a realistic budget to begin with. I am continually astound as to how large scale projects with government run way over budget. They pay huge sums to project managers and no one is held to account.

See McCurry putting the boot into the players that left the Tyrone panel

Did he not walk away himself in 2018 ?

Didn't think he stuck the boot in at all. It was 1 line in a 40 minute interview. He did seem to stick the boot into mickey harte but he only said what everyone knew was wrong.

Hampsey was stupid and he let his team down, not once, but twice.

Just rewatched the black card incident again there. That was a bad decision. There was 1 second between the dub player laying off the ball before paudie shoulder. How was he supposed to stop as he was running to shoulder the player legally. If the dub player held onto the ball for 1 second more it would have been a perfect tackle

Did he collide with the player after the ball was played?

Yes literally 1 second after ball was played. If that is a back card then there would be no one left on the pitch as there are numerous slightly late tackles in every game.

He should have gotten a yellow and the outcome would be the same as he still would have been sent off. Overall it didn't matter but I struggled to see how a fraction late tackle is the same as going out of your way to cynically take a player out of the game or to deliberately pull a player down.

Who's to say they wouldn't have scored them anyways? Hampsey then on that lost the game for his county by being stupid, not once but twice

So you would have yellow carded Hampsey too for Costello acting the prat?

Is your issue that Costello fell over? He was wearing studs, standing on concrete and got a shoulder into the chest. I'd challenge anyone not to fall over.

What was he at though? He squared up to Hampsey as he came in to retrieve, so tough shit I'd say.

You are a bit of a disease on this forum.

Fair enough to have a pop at Costello's cynicism in palming the ball away. But the idea that he squared up to Hampsey is a figment of your imagination. Was he not walking back through the gate when Hampsey hit him? No more.

He is under no obligation to retrieve the ball. The insinuation that a player that does not retrieve a ball is fair game for a dig is bollocks of the first order.

Watching the game and maybe making the odd sensible comment is enough for most. If your mind needs something else try sudoku. But don't poison this place with your shite

Ah now you can clearly see from the video at around 45 seconds that costello dropped the shoulder waiting for hamspey to shoulder him.

Again it was stupid of hamspey to do so.

GAA Discussion / Re: Colm O'Rourke vs. the GPA

Watched it!

Few thoughts.

First, talking about the GAA as if GPA members are not members of the GAA.  I cannot stand this. It is presented as if the GAA is a separate entity that is taking advantage of the players.

Second, it was clear there were a number of prepared lines to curry favour with the public and one was, look at the money the GAA is making. This was mentioned at least twice.

Third, they seem to forget that the players are privileged to play for their counties - if they do not enjoy it, why don't they stop. No one is making them play what is an amateur sport.

Fourth, how many teams are collectively training more than four nights a week?  Why would four nights not be enough to cover expenses.  To leave it open ended would be to open it to abuse or semi-professionalism as was rightly pointed out by O'Rourke. What is the GPA after here?

Finally, the GAA is 100% correct to resist GPA is demanding.  I have no doubt that this is a long term project for some in the GPA where this is the thin end of the wedge.  They will continually ask for more.

Certain guru's were critical of O'Rourke after his comments last night.  Look where this increasingly professional approach and these gurus have taken the game - to a point where many people are complaining that it isn't worth watching.

You have to ask what is it all about?

But the GAA have a problem:

Clubs and Counties have opened the door to every Tom, Dick and Harry to suck money out of the system, either directly from the GAA or through communities that fundraise.  GAA clubs and counties have been foolish enough to pay it, whether it is for management, coaching, coaching coaches, video analysis and all sorts of other business ventures.

The GAA has let all of this go and why would anyone be surprised when the players want a piece of the action.

The GAA needs to have a damn good look at what it now means to be an amateur organisation and it needs to renew its commitment to amateurism.

I suppose the counter argument is that there are huge amounts of people from within the top gaa hierarchy and including strength and conditioning coaches, physios, commentators etc etc all making money from the GAA while the players who we psy to watch are making very little.

I do however agree with a restriction on training, it gets to the stage where more training has a negative effect.

I thought China was the only country could end this - they could escalate it!

The US says China will face harsh "consequences" if it aids Russia in its invasion of Ukraine, according to US media reports.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-60732486
China is in a hole. It expected a short war. The country is the world's largest importer of wheat and oil. The longer the war lasts, the higher prices will go. The economy is weakening..

Surely is an absolute embarrassment to Putin and Russia. They are supposed to be a world super power but can not manage to overtake Ukraine. Now they are having to ask for help from China. No doubt the Russian generals where telling Putin how quickly they could stream roll Ukraine as they are a far too afraid of him to be honest with him.

Putin has seriously messed this up and instead of showing the world how much of a superpower they are he has shown the world what they really are. A corrupt country relying on nukes.

Miles off all over the pitch. Half forward and half back line struggling to give the team a platform. Canavan is a magic player tho

Once McCurry is bottled up then it's a struggle up front. McShane still not at the races at all yet. McGeary again was poor. I take it he was hooked at half time as opposed to an injury.

A big game on Saturday v Mayo just became bigger after today.

Agree. McCurry was trying his best but once he is covered tyrone struggle. Too many if the senior players seem to think  they are still on holiday. Disappointing as tyrone should have learnt from the last 3 AI wins, at the minute it seems like history is going to repeat itself.

Dire

Worse than Killarney

Let's not get carried away -- 6 goals against in Killarney FFS, though it could be 7 in two weeks' time at this rate!  ;)

Some of those goals were fortunate enough. Today was a shambles fromm start to finish

Tyrone have some serious work to do now. Would it be with while accepting relegation and instead train towards the championship. At the minute fermanagh won't fear tyrone and I would wager at this minute I time Derry would beat them

Tyrone would need to buck up here or they be playing with Antrim in Div 2.
I would be happy if they could string a few passes together at this stage.
