What makes you say that?

There was stuff knocking around about Cluxton and Dessie there for the last while. Maybe you were in self isolation or something.

 ;D

Lads on the pitch seemed happy enough.   Wouldn't know what to believe about Cluxton other than he's gone.  I was wondering whether Mayo4Sam was picking up on something else.

He was on the court for game 6, but he was far from OK.  He had no lift in his shots, and passed off when he had open jumpers, which is pretty unusual for him.  Hadn't the same influence at all.

At this point, a larger fear emerges.  What if this England team is the international equivalent of 1993's Man Utd?  A team that was hilariously knocking on the door, and failing for years, only for the eventual win to set them up for a period of dominance?

OK, international tournaments are only every two years, and even Spain only managed three on the bounce, but still...

Unfortunate injury to Trae Young (stepped on an umpire's foot and turned his ankle) meant the final two games of the series kind of fizzled out.  Atlanta will be a fun team to watch for the next few years if they can keep that team together.

Yeah, unusual amount of stars being injured this time out.  Actually may have made some of the series more competitive though.

Chris Paul's Suns close out LA Clippers.

I've only been watching since 99, but these have been the best playoffs I've seen.  Fantastic viewing.

Mbappe hadn't a great tournament, but he was pretty unfortunate against Germany.  Great goal chalked off because he slightly mistimed his run.

I use it in the US.  Was very dodgy when it first came out. Last few years it's been very reliable, but this year there've been a number of games when it was very iffy.  Must try harder.

During World War 2 a survey was done in Manchester, where  people were asked do you support the Ariel bombing of German cities, which the people over whelmingly said yes. The same survey was done in London and the people mostly said absolutely no. The reason for this is very simple. London had experienced this terror where as people in Manchester hadn't. So some times you have to experience things in life to learn the way it really is and not how you perceive it to be.

I have witnessed some horrendous acts of violence in America, but no matter how you explain it to people at home even till your blue in the face they still don't get it. All they know is Europeans are racist and the Africans are relentless victims. Which is one of the greatest lies ever told.

3 observations. 1, Manchester folk may well be serious about their cleanliness. 2. Manchester had in fact experienced this terror. 3. You'd be fairly racist

Have a read of the Wall St. Jl. op ed linked in that piece, J70.  It's written by a police officer.  An eye opener.

I can't see the link

It was actually the WaPo.

General discussion / Re: Any solicitors??
« on: June 24, 2021, 04:08:01 PM »
I'm after any advice after getting myself into grief with a landscape gardener. Just before the first lockdown i had employed a landscape company to completely renovate my back garden for a total cost of £10,000 which included some building works and removal of materials. He started two days before the first lockdown in March 2020 and then disappeared promising to come back once everything opened up, at this stage i had foolishly given him a deposit of £2500 and then another £3500 on the second day for materials the same day that he left site never to return.

After many false promises, lies and dodged phone calls i got a solicitor involved and he has come back with a promise to pay me back £500 per month until the debt is satisfied. My solicitor seems to think this is the best outcome but i have reservations such as what if he goes bankrupt in the meantime, what if he just stops payments or the payments are late/missed.

Note the payments to him were bank transfers directly to his personal account.

Was he a limited company or a soul trader?  The reality he could go bankrupt and youíll just add the list of creditors. The only way to protect in my way is to take him to court, get a judgement and then if he doesnít pay it enforce it through the EJO. Thatís a time consuming process, with no guarantee that youíll be any better off than under the current arrangement. I would get the repayment plan detailed in a repayment agreement which in the event of non payment would be useful in securing the judgement. Civil debts are a painful debt to chase

If he's a 'soul' trader you best just pray you get your money back...I'll get my coat...

Best not to get involved with these soul traders in the first place.  They're tricky devils.
