Quote from: bennydorano on Today at 06:07:02 PMNothing supporters of any team appreciate more than people who've little or no interest in their team coming in and pontificating on some irrelevance.

Which is evident on the Utd Liverpool City Everton and Rangers threads

Should we look in on those threads and see who's been naughty?

Armagh to win handy this weekend..

This has been a crusade with the management to win an Ulster.

Monaghan's efforts last day was their big win and it's been a hard season so far with all the defeats on the league, but an incredible run through to the final will come up short.

Unless Armagh shit the nest or get a player sent off, all plausible lol, then Armagh to win by 7 pulling up

The simple question would be, on the final day would the Celtic fans be happy to give that type of 'handball' away to Hearts to win the title?

I don't think they'd be all on here claiming it was a handball and fair play to the ref for spotting it

Quote from: Baile Brigín 2 on May 13, 2026, 02:04:26 PMWe are making a big assumption that the EU want them back or even want to renegotiate closer ties.

The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, expressed her support for the UK eventually rejoining the EU. In September 2023 Keir Starmer, leader of the Labour Party and the now-Prime Minister of the UK, ruled out the possibility of the UK rejoining the EU under a Starmer-led Labour government.

Antrim / Re: Antrim Hurling

We played, as minors, an Ulster league back in the day, the main Derry teams at the time and all the Antrim and Down teams I think, f**k it was a bruising season or two! But high quality games from memory and traveling to pitches unknown to us back then

The logistics and timing would be the main factors here but if there was a will between the counties they could fix it, at club level there isn't much between the top teams when they have access to all their squad, the difference is when playing without the main players from their county teams..

Accessing these players for the leagues creates the shadow boxing set up and false form come the end of season leading into Championship

I'm probably wee bit older and Renshaws became one of those places where the students became annoying lol!

And that's when I went to Vico's! Life definitely changed then lol

How those  lackies  sleep at night is  beyond me

Probably sleep well on their Egyptian cotton bedding sheets with duck feathered filled pillows

I remember the old Bot before it was 'burned' down, the kids were upstairs but the locals mainly used the pub downstairs, which from memory was frequented by police, or I can remember that being said at the time.. the old dance floor upstairs had a Saturday night fever look to it..

When it was first done up I remember they had a drinks machine that did bottle beers! place was packed out and it was free in..

The Egg got the overspill and the Wellyboot didn't do as well during the week but a pure cattle market at the weekends..

Loads of memories from a non student!

Ah the aul Bot, its had its day unfortunately, location location location... Mid 80's it was outta Belfast City center which had a ring of steel around it and closed around 7pm at night, so the options for students were limited..

Wed nights when I was 16 through to early 20's and Sundays for the first of the Super Sundays during the hey days of the PL, wife (girlfriend at the time) was pouring me into the car, god knows why she stuck around!

Antrim / Re: Antrim Hurling

Quote from: NAG1 on May 12, 2026, 08:35:44 AMI think we've effectively killed the hurling leagues, teams are showing up and the games I've seen various match-ups have barely been above pre-season friendly level. There is no bite in them at all and while they may be decent for getting squad players games, I see very little else about them that is worthwhile.

I know with the split season this is kind of inevitable but I think its not good longer term for the club game.

Until you put some reason/benefit into it then it will have no intensity to it

Quote from: Main Street on May 11, 2026, 10:31:06 PMA daughter of mine did 3 years 3rd level in Slovenia a few years ago, the course fees were ridiculously low as a citizen of an eu state. We paid her rent of a roomy single student flat about eur200/month then, and she could manage most of the rest of the living expenses with good summer work at home, savings, birthday gifts and lastly occasional top ups from us. We saved a fortune and she had an adventure of a lifetime.
,

That sounds just the ticket..

I wish my kids could have looked at that option lol

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on May 11, 2026, 08:22:51 PMIrish students and other EU applicants receive priority for college places via the CAO system, as places are allocated based on Leaving Certificate points rather than residency, and CAO offers are designed to give applicants their highest preference possible.

Key details regarding preference and placement:Highest Preference First:

In Round One, students are offered the highest preference course for which they are eligible.

Preference System: Students list courses in order of preference (1 to 10) on their CAO application. If they receive their first choice, no further offers are made.

EU Status Priority: Applicants from the EU/EEA, including Irish students, are treated equally and have first access to places in the CAO system.

High Success Rates: Over half (51%) of applicants in 2025 received their first preference for Level 8 courses, and 80% received one of their top three preferences.

Non-EU students typically apply directly to universities and do not compete for these specific CAO places.

My daughters didn't really look elsewhere and had their sights on, one at Queens the other was just looking to go across to the Uk.

If I had my choice I'd have loved to been at a college in Dublin! But just had enough to get an apprenticeship lol
You think the CAO don't class people from the 6 as Irish?

Read the article. They even tell you how much points an A level is worth.

I was joking about the foreigner bit

I've read it
