Yeah Clare were pretty brutal, all this disruption and stand-offs in the camp has taken its toll. As for the fight, well how bad was it. looked like a load of argey-bargey, wouldnt get too excited about it. On the note of why there is not much talk of hurling on here. Well, I could be wrong but I dont see many Cork, Kilkenny, Waterford or Clare fans on here starting topics or disussing hurling. I started the thread on the NHL final and I've no connection to either team!!

I love hurling and wish Meath were a bit more competitive but its losing out to football in a big way. I remember my Dad asked to start a hurling team in the local GAA club and he was told that there was no way they'd do it. Didnt have the funds to do it apparently.

Intruiging game. its hard to know what to make of either team. Are they getting better, getting worse. either way it wont lack intensity anyway. I'd like to give a prediction but its impossible to say. Hope Clare win tho.

Kevin Moran???? Sure all he did was get sent off in a Cup Final, and solo 60 yards before kicking it a mile wide in an All IReland Final :D

Yeah but he did it very fast

As great as Ollie Murphy was I wouldnt be too quick bringing him back to County football. When did he last play a full 70 minutes for Meath. He's struggled with fitness and form since 2001. Thats a long time to wait for someone to get in shape and find their touch again.

I wouldnt know Paulo Maldini from a hole in a wall, Seamus on the other hand is a legend.

Quotealso because the Dublin based media will hype it up

perhaps this needs to be done in all other counties. Dont know if I ever heard LMFM hyping up Meath or Louth games very much. FM104 and 98FM always do bits on the Dubs. same with the papers. I think its a shining example wheather or not such hype is warrented it creates a great buzz.

OK, so this thread is going totally off topic. I was hoping to talk about what this might mean for the future of the Irish economy. €450 billion thats an unbelievable amount of money. How would it be best for the irish government to go about making the most of this. Could it really help make the west a more affluent place do you think?

Well one thing that many people that live near me, and this is just in East-Meath, many people with young families cant afford to go. Croke park used to be a great day out for families (such as it was when i was a young teenager) one of my neighbours has 6 kids who are aged between 10 and 19. They are all eager to go to Croke park, but with the cost of the tickets, petrol, parking and food it would cost a fortune to bring that many kids. And this is just in Meath where its only a reletivley into Dublin.

(Speaking as a business man) The GAA think they can charge more for the same product they were selling for alot cheaper 10 years ago. The games havent changed. you still get the same product but its costing more now. The stadiums bigger and better but people dont feel like paying more for what was an affordable day out. Same with young lads who want to travell up.

I think alot of young lads between 20-25 have moved away, it used to be a cheap ticket and a few beers in Quinns before and after the game. Tickets are too expensive now.

I'd be confident going into the game but if i was neautral and a betting man my money'd be on the Dubs. They are after all Leinster Champs and A-I semi-finalists. But this will be Meaths best chance of beating them in a long time

In todays Indo!! Look out Bush could be coming to liberate us from Bertie and Fianna Fail after years of oppression and tyranny

THE property boom might be over, but Ireland could be on the verge of an oil and gas boom to rival the concrete economy of the last tenyears.

According to the Petroleum Affairs Division of the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, there is at least 10 billion barrels of oil lying off the west coast Ireland - which has a current value of €450bn (€50 a barrel).

Added to gas supplies, energy exports have the potential to transform Ireland into a new Middle East.

"A recent regional assessment estimated resources in the Porcupine and Rockall Basins at ten billion barrels of oil. Estimates are based on comparisons with the geology of other regions with proven success," explained Helen Chandler, spokesperson for the Department of Communications, Marine and Natural Resources.

In a recently publishedscientific report by thePetroleum Affairs Division, entitled Atlantic Ireland, it stated: "The potential shows volumes of over 130 billion barrels of oil and 50 trillion cubic feet of gas."

Most of these deposits have been pinpointed along anunderwater ridge known as the Atlantic Margin which runs parallel to the west coast of Ireland in a more or less straight line before arcing off towards Scotland and the North Sea onwards towardsScandinavia.

To date, the Atlantic Ridge hasn't let anyone down. The Dunquin gas field which is 200km off the coast of Kerry contains an astonishing 25 trillion cubic feet of natural gas and 4,130 million barrels of oil.

Put into context, this alone would meet our gas needs - at present consumption levels - for the next 62 years.

Farrells a loss but he was having a quiet game, and we can start Gerethy against Dublin, he'll win votes in this game. the good thing about yesterday was the fact that a good range of players got the scores.

The strange thing is Meath have won many games this year in the league and now this one in the championship. In almost every game people have said were crap, yet the winning margins have been generally comfortable. Im nailing Green and Gold to the mast in this one.
