* make sure your hand / arm is correct, ie you'll want your thump and index finger to form a clamp.
* learn to play open E with your middle, ring and pinky finger (makes it easier to move the E shape barre chairs down the fret board)
* maybe start with power chords, ie E A D strings (E shape barre) or A D G strings (A shape barre) and learn to navigate up and down the fret board memorising the chords.
* do not get hung up on all the strings ringing clear, the bottom B string can be a brut. Work on placing the barre chord as quick and accurately as you can.
Haven't looked, but I'm sure Justin Sandercoe or Andy Guitar would have a video or two with better / clearer tips
