Title: Club league games
Post by: redzone on August 02, 2021, 10:55:08 PM
How many has ure Club played so far. In Tyrone it's 9 but I see in Fermanagh the most any club has played is 3 which is terrible.

Leagues in Galway (football) have been restructured into a more condensed format this year due to Covid.
2 Groups of 4 with semi finals and final in each division.
The 3 group games are completed now. Semi finals next weekend.

3 league games in Galway and Fermanagh since the start of the year...please tell me there were district games played as well in those counties for club players?
If not, that's a disgrace. Any wonder players are looking at other sports

There has already been a league played without the County players in Fermanagh.

Great to hear that. Thank God!

In Galway there was not. My own club played 4 or 5 challenge matches instead.
County players didn't play the first 3 games but can play now given that the county team are knocked out.
Championship starts first weekend in September.

So 5 games max in league if you make the final?
What's the championship format, is it league round robin then qtr, semi, final?

Antrim played a one way league which is fully completed 2 weeks ago, no relegation but promotion from the lower leagues for the winners.

Championship starts next week the 11th same format as last year, groups and top two go through in both codes

Correct on both counts.
In a normal year the leagues have 8 teams (I think) per division.
So you have 7 round robin games followed by finals/relegation games.
It's been a long time since the double round league system was abandoned - I'd say nearly 20 years at this stage.

Does the Antrim championship start 11th September? Are there any other games scheduled between now & then?

Next week 11th, I've highlighted it  ;)

We had a lull after the last league games but most teams are arranging challenge games, did one last night! 3  25 minutes 'half's'

Zero actual league games played in Mayo. Starting this weekend. There were divisional games, North, South Mayo etc. There's a 3rd competition, which is at semi final stage but there were more games conceded than actually played in it. There were the Junior championships for B teams. That concluded yesterday.

Regarding the actual leagues themselves, there's 6 teams in each division, I'm unsure if it's top progress to the final, or top two of each qualifies for semis. Club championship commences weekend of 19/20th September.
