General discussion / Re: Things that make you go What the F**k?

Thankfully we never stayed in any real dungeons. Halls in 1st year then Stranmillis and Holylands after that. The worst I ever was in was on Tate's Avenue that lads in the class were in. The tank in the loft flooded over Xmas and when they can came it was soaked, all the plaster came off the walls and the house looked like it was ready for demolition. The landlord refused to fix it as he blamed them. It wasn't fit for human habitation. We used to sit drinking in their living room dressed for outdoors and they eventually burnt the mantlepiece and stair rods and banister in the fire to keep warm.

They weren't from Ballycastle by any chance?  ;)
It was a gatherup house full of Prods but safe to say there wasn't much church going out of them! Youll have to name names on these Ballycastle hallions.

I'm feeling nostalgic for the Mucksavages thread (may it RIP).  :D

Anyone know how long ago that it was accessible? One of the Board's all time highlights in my time on here. In those days the Board was blocked by my employers firewall, mobile phones were either too fiddly or slow to upload (or crippling from a data perspective) so it used to be home from work and straight onto the laptop to see what gems had been added. ;D

This was linked here a few years ago

FSG are ok with me. They made a mistake. It happens. This is the way things work in the states, it is different over here. Good owners are hard to find and are important just as much as having a good manager or players.

I like the way the run things financially, well of what I think they run things. Brought us on leaps and bounds in that regards but this is another major mistake along the lines with the ticket fiasco and furlough last year. How in name of feck did they not realize this would be the reaction? Spoiler: they did and did it anyway.

I want them out now but like you said pat...good owners are hard to find and me wanting them out doesn't mean squat if they aren't willing to sell.

Of course they knew. And that wasn't the reason they reversed out of it. Liverpool (and United) are claiming they listened to stakeholders, but they pulled out only when the winds started to change and the league was dead in the water

Actress Helen McCrory, aka Polly from Peaky Blinders, age 52. Cancer.

I never knew she was married to Damian Lewis

Have any of you looked at the recording of the draw again , emlyn mulligan has tweeted it .

Was it too hot to handle?
A bit dodgy looking.

Emlyn mulligan, the fella who basically conceded a game live on a draw a few years ago.

Sorry, what's the relevance? Or did you just see the name and want to get a dig in?

This is a bit niche but might be of interest to a small section of the board!

Hadn't heard of this podcast, Ball Talk with Rian Bailey but he did an episode this week about the Crossmolina Deel Rovers All Ireland win of 2001 as the anniversary was this week.
He interviews players Michael Moyles, Joe Keane and Damian Mulligan.

Watched the first episode of The Flight Attendant. Seems promising.

Halfway through... itís intense and slick and funny in parts Iím enjoying it though and the wife as well so thatís always a bonus!!
Itís actually better than promising, it is very good and Kaley Cuoco is fantastic in it. I was ready for episode 2 but Mrs. Baloney took herself to bed and I was told not to watch it!

This why myself and the other half rarely watch stuff together. I can run through 3 or 4 episodes at the drop of a hat while one episode does her..... In fact if it was a lazy night in front of TV she'd watch single episodes of multiple different series back to back driving me insane  :o My poor wee brain can't compute more than one cliffhanger at a time.

Probably should have posted this on the what grinds your gears thread....

I have lost momentum with so many shows because of this. We ended up having maybe one show at a time that we are watching together, then a whole load of shows that fall into her only or me only categories!

I never realised how much Bwyson looks like TinTin

His head also looks like an egg - more than Stephen Donnelly does

Anyone watch Your Honor, not sure what to make of it tbh. Can't say I enjoyed it or hated it. 6/10 at best

Really enjoyed the first few episodes, thought it trailed off a bit. Solid 6 or 7/10.

Anyone watched Zero Zero Zero yet? Just about to start

When you think about it Tyrone sorta killed Armagh that day. The applechompers never really won a big game in Croke Park fairly since then....15 years ago.
That is what happens when teams fade into mediocrity, as Tyrone are now learning

We are a long long way off Armagh standard yet.

Probably following a Meath/Sean Boylan model of decline with the same failure to refresh.  Takes a little longer but still inevitable.

Funny that since the exchange, Tyrone have reached an AIF and a semi final. We haven't gone away you know.

3 years later and an O'Neill windup is still paying dividends. Some of the more recent wums could learn a lesson

Officially now a crisis.  Klopp and the players look devoid of any ideas whatsoever.  Can't keep losing games like this.  Extremely worrying how the management haven't been able to find a way to halt this nightmare run.
Itís just astonishing they keep playing exactly the same way every single game. Surely they have to try something different.

At least he tried 4 4 2 late on. Maybe he's finally realising the 4 4 3 system is done with our full backs in this form.

The worst part of the 4 4 3 is how you can't have a goalie

We've followed some bad Dublin sides in the 90s and 00s but we still went to the games. I remember losing a league final to cork in Pairc Ui Caoimh in the pissing rain when there were more dubs fans there than cork fans. It's a sad state of affairs when people will only go to games they know their team will win. That's so childish it's actually funny.

Yeah and i was at league games in Parnell Park.
Lucky you.

I wish all the dubs home League games were in parnell park. There were some cracking matches there over the years. I remember a Meath supporter throwing a cup of tea at Whelo and Whelo having to be held back from going up into stand after the person.
I remember the time James Nallen lost the rag with Whelo and followed him about 30 yards up the field to give him a good box on the lug. I didn't see what Whelo did to annoy Jimmy but he had floored one of the Mayo backs.
I was told by the guy next to me that it was a clumsy tackle rather than a dirty one but Nallen must have thought otherwise.

When was this? Doesn't sound like Jimmy Nallen and I'd say your memory is playing tricks.

I remember in the 2006 semi, Whelo taking McGarrity out of it with a box in the side of the face. McGarrity got replaced by Barry Big Bird. I believe Brady put Whelan on his arse when he came on.
