From BBC

QuotePatrick McBride has decided to step away from the Antrim senior football panel after just two rounds of the new Football League campaign.

An ever present since making his inter-county debut in 2012, McBride was a second-half substitute in Antrim's Division Four league defeat to Tipperary on Sunday.

One of the Saffrons' most high profile and experienced players, the 32-year-old St John's clubman had committed to the senior football panel for a 15th consecutive year and has yet to publicly comment on his decision to quit the county squad.

U21 All Ireland titles won in 2010,2012,2014,2017

The last few years lot of the Dublin 2010,2012,2014 U21 All Ireland winners have retired which has brought a natural dip.  They are in full transition now and no easy task for Ger Brennan when you consider Dublin at U20 the last five years haven't won Leinster nevermind All-Ireland title.

Quote from: Captain Scarlet on February 04, 2026, 11:24:01 AMDo Cavan take any solace in pushin Cork and Meath so close or, as I'd see it, it's a total sickener.

Offaly fairly gave up against Kildare and have lost too many bodies and I think they will drop. They have to play Derry, Tyrone and Meath yet!

I just can't see Tyrone not getting their act together. Then Cavan, Kildare and Louth can go either way in terms of table position.

Derry will beat Kildare and I worry about our midfield mobility in that one. But we are much fitter than we've been in years and we are still missing a lot of lads.

So far In this year's league 8 by my count (Harry O'Neill,Ryan Burke,James Harris,Ryan Sinkey,Callum Bolton,Eoin Cully,Brendan Gibbons,Darragh Swords)  U20 All-Ireland winners or runners up in 2022/23 has featured.  Another two are injured currently Colm Dalton and James Mcgrath

Then add in Jack Robinson , Jimmy Hyland , Darragh Kirwan, Neil Flynn, Ben McCormack have to return it's a good panel getting built,  should fitness and organisation be done right and it should be under manager Brian Flanagan and coaches Aidan O'Rourke,Davy Burke then no reason why Kildare in years can't become more consistent move upwards.

Former Chelsea player seals the win for Arsenal, into a first cup final for 6 years and that was in front of a empty Wembley during covid.

Quote from: quit yo jibbajabba on February 03, 2026, 08:33:33 PMI know this is carabao and not premiership but jees football as a spectacle is finished, for me anyway. Foul after foul, jostling at every set piece, which take an age to set up, girnin st the ref over nearly everything. So stop start

Maybe I'm just getting too old

It's truly boring and Arsenal have been involved in a lot of these type of contests this season now.

Quote from: thewobbler on February 03, 2026, 01:14:36 PMEoinW it looks like you're already setting up camp for the summer in the same place as you did last year, among the woods but unable to see the trees.

"When scoring is too easy, the best way to defend is to deny the opposition the ball."

You just don't seem to get it at all.

The changes to the kickout rules and the removal of the keeper from open play means there is no guaranteed way to re-secure possession after any score or wide.

So when in the closing minutes of a game, there will continue to be an obvious incentive to protect a slender lead through possession (with 11 men instead of 15 making it a tougher ask btw). But there is now limited incentive to do so earlier in the game. If you're still inclined, you can f**k around with the ball for minutes at a time if you like. The difference being that your opponents, with an aggressive game plan, need to make just one turnover and can then viably post a big lead in just 3-4 minutes of play, thereby rendering your pishy "tactics" obsolete.

Good in theory though with unlimited Hand passing it doesn't tend to be easy to win back possession.  Already this year I've seen teams with preplanned routines with hands in the air indicating a slow passage of possession play was incoming.

Buddy Holly , Richie Valens and the Big Bopper all  gone in a plane crash. And the pilot

I'd imagine nobody here is old enough to remember it  happening?

It's amazing after nearly 70 years, Buddy Holly's music still  lives on

Good music never dies and many artists have been inspired by Buddy Holly, such as the Beatles,Rolling Stones,Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen.
