Strange one this. 19 suspensions seems abit excessive- obviously no one deserves to feel intimidated at work but if you're going to work in a school with teenagers you can't afford to be too precious. Hard to comment on it without knowing the full detail

I wouldn't worry about an Ulster title too much. Get playing as late in the summer as possible would be my objective.

I think the biggest addition this year in Mc Kinless. Hopefully he can stay fit.  But his driving runs, game brain and abrasive nature will be a boost for Derry this year.

If losing to Kildare is our level then we are not in a good place no matter how good anyone says Kildare are or how bad the conditions were.

And that's no disrespect to Kildare.

We think we can be a top tier hurling county yet at our best in the last 20 yrs or more we clung to senior status by our finger nails.

And at club level our senior champions got hammered in provincial.

Hard to be optimistic about the year ahead.

Any of the underage teams likely to give us some cheer?

Kildare are a good team. And have put in a lot of work recently in terms of improving hurling.

They can as they are based in a commuter belt and have the population. With that, many more people are playing hurling. That can only be good for them in the long run.

Maybe with Naas being so strong could have it's drawbacks but numbers are good and the only way is up.

Said it at the time disgraceful decision, how anyone would pull out a red card on the final whistle for a club player going to an All Ireland final is beyond me. If you have to give out a yellow and blow the whistle and move on.

How was it?

Referee and linesman immediately pulled him up and dished out the red. Must have been a strike off the ball.

Doesn't matter if it's 5 mins in in a 1st round game or 2 mins from the end of an All-Ireand Final, it's still a red.

So what, if it's a semi-final. Harsh lesson for the lad but they were about 12 pts up and 2 mins left. Silly more than anything and unfortunately for him, he's probably learned his lesson now.

I'd say the panel is flexible enough over the past few weeks, even up until the league starts.

Good chance to have a big panel of 45, then cut it down week on week to 35. I think there will always be lads injured and not training for one reason or another.

Plus you'll need at least 30 fit players for in-house games. Then pick your 15 starters from that.

But in terms of fixtures etc. I think there should be a rule that all names should be in Irish.

Even on scoreboard, like inter-county.

Most people would know the Irish for their club regardless but it should be used more. A simple thing to do. Plus, to me, it's a lot more interesting in terms of the meaning behind it.

I remember Donal Mc Anallen had a bi-lingual booklet, maybe in conjunction with Ulster GAA, of all the clubs in Ulster. It went through every club, in each county and gave the club name and name of litch in Irish and Englush.

It was a great piece of work. Very detailed by Donal. I'll check for it later on and post up here. 

Not sure if they are all old enough to be on the actual Glenullin Panel (Paddy Bradley I see has tweeted he has a young fella involved who I think is still under 16) but a very unfortunate position for four families to be caught up in

Pity semi-finals can't be played in CP instead of Parnell Park for example. Pitch in excellent condition. Quality surface in Jan.

I understand why not as there'd be about an extra 20 games on it, between senior, intermediate and junior etc. in Dec and Jan. Be sore on the surface.
