When your Woman go in the weight lifting?

Ireland have 30 something Olympic medals in total, half of which were won by boxers.

Athletics medals don't tend to be flĂșirseach unless there is an exceptional talent . Competition is very heavy and other countries are more organised.

Maybe rowing could turn into a regular medal winner.

Ciara didn't make it, but it was a big ask to get through the heat with a calf strain..

Hasn't had much luck with injuries.

And a tenth of these by Michelle Smith.

Perhaps we could ask Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya to get the Belarus team to defect to Ireland.

If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

real pity. Haven't watched it but sounded like she ran well tactically but just hadn't the speed in the legs. She's 29 now and at that level i dunno how many more years you would get. Should be another olympics and worlds in her. Those middle distances are very tough to survive in. The tactics and the madness you get on the ramp up last up mean that unless you're way ahead of the rest it can be a lottery getting through at times. 4:07 isn't really going to cut it at that level either and you'd need to be down very close to 4:00 dead.

She commented something similar after the worlds where she'd busted herself so I think she knows her time is limited but will enjoy it while it lasts and then look to get into the physio'ing.

That's for top ten. That hisan who'll likely win it may not be entirely clean either just like dibaba. That distance riddled with people with question marks over them.

You feel for mageean but hopefully a major final in her yet. Last year I think she would have made the final. This year, calf tear or not, she still hasn't been racing fantastically.

Great to see another medal won last night, hopefully she goes on to win Gold.
When you think you're fucked you're only about 40% fucked.

I haven't seen it but heard big things about the 400 hurdles final. Two boys broke the world record? That norwegian guy is good.

Irish sports needs to rid themselves of people like this one. What she means to say is she used Irish sport to further her career in the sport and as a vehicle to get back to her motherland.
