It just seems bizarre to me that every year we talk about how good, how competitive, how unpredictable our national leagues are. And then the league finals come along and without fail, drain the absolute f**king life out of us.

Thankfully we've never ever had a bad championship game of football that drains the life out of people. Nonsense. Dublin v Kerry final few years back was brilliant with Kerry kicking last minute free to win. Dublin Derry Final was one of the best games of the last 4/5 years. You can't have good finals every year but to say get rid of them based off of two poor finals in the last two years is ridiculous. I was at all four finals and you could close, competive games in three of them. Carlow winning a first national title in living memory for most people is a huge GAA story and getting to win it playing a final in Croke Park is extra special for them. While it doesn't come onto your radar for those who properly follow GAA will see the merits of league finals when it can give counties days like that. Same for Leitrim few years back-the buzz it brought to the county playing a national final in Croke Park was immense.

I totally agree. Scrap the league finals next year.

Quote from: moonster on March 30, 2026, 01:26:54 PMThe Kerry forwards Sean O'Shea in particular are fond of the closed fist tackles but a brushed over the Kerry/Yerra Madia.

O'Connor brothers Mayo getting with for years.

Murphy tackles only flagged because Kerry lad on receiving end.

The Kerry mafia won't be shy highlighting Murphy now.
Theres a difference in a closed fist tackle for the ball and hitting a few digs to the ribs and jaw nowhere near the  ball.

But there shouldn't be a difference.

Once you swing with a closed fist, you're increasing your chance of hurting an opponent.

There's no f**king need for it. Ever.

Agree totally.  How many times does the closed fist ever make contact with the ball?
That's just, like your opinion man.

Conor lane linesman, and David Gough Referee, no way should they get another game for at least 3 months,
after that performance yesterday.

Closed fist tackle point is irrelevant though given he blatantly just punched him in the face... I only watched this back today and it was pretty bad.

It was fascinating to hear the experts discuss genius Jim's amazing new tactic of starving the Kerry forwards of possession.50 years this was the tactic in every club game all over Ireland .It was basic simple logic that if you won the ball around midfield the opposing team didn't have it to supply their forwards. Where would we be without Jim teaching us all how to play football eh?

I listened to quite a few pundits this week and none of them said anything remotely like what you're implying.

Yeah, some pointed out that there wasn't much the star Kerry forwards could do if they were getting hammered at midfield, but it was hardly cast as a novel, inspired Jim McGuinness innovation.

Some of you lads have an unhealthy obsession with McGuinness.

guys its one thing knowing what you want to do but far more difficult to implement.. some armchair managers on here lol
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

You wouldn't have got midfield dominance last year with Joe O'Connor. He was unplayable but I doubt that those heights can be reached two years in a row. Him and (Paudie) Clifford destroyed Donegal last year. (David  reaped the rewards from that.)

Wouldn't bet against him reaching those heights again, Joe is a serious footballer. He was destroying Armagh in the first half and TK did a decent job on him in the second.  Expect Paudie to be almost totally snuffed out by Donegal come championship.

Still have O'Brien and Diarmuid O'Connor to come in around the middle, plus White and BOB who'll surely be a boost for break ball. Is Jack Barry back down under or whats the story there? Remember the rumours were rife that he was going to play against Armagh last year.
