Hi Folks

I was wondering would you all mind taking 30 seconds out of your day and signing a petition that our Club is involved in.

Here's the speel...

As fellow Gaels 60 seconds of your time is all is needed.

In December 2008, Owen Roes GFC, Tyrone, lost one of its most popular and charismatic youngsters when their ladies under-age player Terri Devine was struck down by meningitis and passed away. This was an extremely difficult time for Owen Roes, but more so for Terri's family and many friends.

However since Terri's death the first ever vaccine designed to cover most strains of meningitis B in Europe has been developed.  The new vaccine called Bexsero could protect you or your family members, and ultimately stop others having to go through what Terri's family went through. Owen Roes GFC and Terri's family are asking for as many of you as possible to read the attached petition and ultimately add your signature to the growing list.

Bexsero has been given the green light by the European Commission, but at this moment in time it's uncertain that the NHS will provide this vaccination free of charge, and indeed at this stage it's believed the JCVI (the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation) are considering its cost-effectiveness.

Terri's mum, Marie, says that 'by taking "Time for Terri" you're also taking time for the hundreds of others who have died or been left with severe physical/mental disabilities as a direct result of having "meningitis B". It's now too late for Terri and for them but for thousands of others this vaccine could not be introduced fast enough. When meningitis strikes "time" doesn't come into it - in 40 minutes our world fell apart. Two of Terri's very memorable sayings were "In a minute" and "Wait a minute"- no different from many others- but please don't wait and sign now (www.TimeforTerri.co.uk). All the photos in the world cannot replace the presence of a very special loved one in your life- their voice, their laughter.... their sound.... have gone forever."

We at Owen Roes support the efforts of Terri's family and want you to help create a growing band of people that signs this petition and ultimately helps expedite the implementation of this vaccine, as no decision on a person's life should be considered 'cost effective', as to Terri's Club, friends and family, her life was priceless.

We thank you for taking the 30 seconds to read this, and the 30 seconds to sign our petition. Thanks for taking, 'Time for Terri'.

No problem Norf, petition signed. For personal reasons putting an end to the threat of that disease is close to my heart - it very nearly put an end to me at 3 years of age.

Really worthwhile cause, and the Owen Roes club has been so supportive - great to see everyone pulling together, and it was lovely to see so many at the Tyrone/Kerry match collecting signatures inside the ground.

I'll send it round my workmates and friends as well.

Why do you feel the need to let everyone know you have done it?

Rois

Think people are showing their support, it keeps the thread at the top of the page, and lets the OP know that he did some good by posting it on here.

What's the problem with that?

None whatsoever.

But why not just say 'worthy cause/good luck/fair play to ya/hope it goes well for you' then?  Same result minus the e-patontheback.

Obviously people are going to say they have done it you clampet!

He's asked people to take the time out to sign it and people are responding by saying they have done so! Why do you feel the need to question that?

(PS signed, worthy cause)

Why do they need to tell him they've done it?  Just do it and fcuk up.
