What kind of pre season do Professional sports have?

Shorter than Internediate and Junior GAA clubs in rural Tyrone.

Go figure.

Is this correct ?
How many weeks a year do amateur running club athletes train.
How many hours a week would an amateur triathlon athlete train.

Do club GAA athletes actually spend more time training than any other serious amateur athlete.

Maybe they do, I'm just asking the question

Eire90

what was the earliest club league ever started.

Take_her_back_ref

Some clubs in Tyrone will actually have a longer preseason than a playing season. Madness.

Professional soccer and rugby 4 week pre season
A professional soccer season runs from August to May.
That leaves them with about 6 weeks of inactivity.
Thats for those who don't play in a summer Euros or World Cup.
Why do we love to exaggerate stuff.
A senior club in Tyrone seasons ended in late September 2022 and started training on the pitch together in March 2023. Thats a 5 month break.
Its a fair bit more than the 6 weeks professional soccer players get

From the records I have 15th March 1981 and 15th March 1987 are the earliest but don't have any details from the 70s.

Catch a grip FFS - 4 weeks!!!

You need to consider that professional sports players train every day during pre season, go on trips, play multiple games - hardly like for like.

The reality is that they only get about 4 weeks off during a 12 month calendar and that even includes Irish League.

GAA club players get on average 4/5 months off between competitive club games

Truth hurts

The Down leagues start next week, every Friday night. It is a great league. Why does Tyrone wait so long?

clarshack

But teams are not getting 4/5 months off if they started training again quite soon after the last season ended.

In an ideal world they would/should be getting 4/5 months off.

20 years ago in 2003 when they restructured the leagues to 4 x 12 teams the league started in mid march.

I see fixtures have been released.

Any truth in rumours that weeks 2 and/or 3 are to be double weekends? Think it would be stupid if double weekends then a gap after starred games if Tyrone still going.

Start dates for the All County Leagues were confirmed
o Division 1 & Division 2 – Friday 19 May
o Division 3 – Friday 12 May
o Reserve Leagues will start two weeks earlier

What way will the Reserve leagues early start work? Take the 2 x last rounds and play them first would make sense

Eire90

does double weekend mean  teams play friday and sunday

Why have Clonoe been included in the starred fixtures?
