Only one reason to play the first round of a knockout championship in May...
Get money into the coffers to help fund the county teams for the year.

Fitting that his career was more or less bookended by championship defeats by Armagh in 02 and 14

Tyrone GAA's statement smacks of what we all knew the County Board didn't want the embarrassment of having a banned team win the championship, the sending off was ridiculous the Rock committed similar offences and they went unpunished and ultimately turned the game on its head, we were fouled twice in the corner and the resulting turnover ended up in the net. Ciaran Gourley persistently fouled and was only carded 50 minutes in, Eugene McConnell witnessed a Rock player elbow one of our players last week and he only received a yellow yet this week a less nasty offence earned a red card. Yes we missed chances but the sending off completely changed the dynamic of the game.
Someone should've told the linesman at your semi final who missed a Castlederg man getting busted right under his nose that the County board wanted Derrytresk stopped at all costs!

Might be a job that's a poison chalice. The Under 17s were hammered in the Jim McGuigan final this year by Donegal who they meet in the opening round of the championship. Now that'll count for nothing in May but if Tyrone are beat there'll be some crying one way or another by the other party.
We're no worse off than Donegal who are making Declan Bonner reapply
Correction.
We are just as bad as Donegal. Our minor management also had to reapply following last year's All Ireland final.

Quote from: Napper on October 07, 2014, 11:03:52 PMWho's the most hated man in club football?
Any truth in the rumor that the most hated man in club football has taken up undercover tv journalist work?
Quote from: Under Lights on September 15, 2014, 11:58:21 AMTotally agree. Div 3 will be wide open next year. We suffered badly this year through emmigration, tragedies and injuries but I would expect us to make a big push next season.Quote from: The Trap on September 15, 2014, 10:23:48 AM
Dromore have responded well to their championship defeat, fair play to them. Looks like league is between them and Coalisland. As usual the race at the bottom is much more interesting and a lot of teams are still involved in terms of escaping the play-offs. Donaghmore are the form team in the league, could they push on next year and make a bid for honours?
Division 2 much more clear cut. If Trillick win the championship, they will go straight back up with Greencastle and at the bottom looks like Newtown and Killeeshil will go straight back down. Fair play to Lough who really consolidated this year.
Division 3 very straightforward with Rock and Derrytresk back up. Much stronger teams than Killeeshil and Newtown and it will make Division 2 a minefield next year!
D3 could be very open next year. Likes of Owen Roes, Castlederg, aghaloo etc will see it as a fantastic opportunity. Clogher who finished 2nd in the league last year have slipped down the table but could be back challenging.
