Carrickmore have dispensed with Archie Beattie. I'm sure he feels very let down by the players but the writing was on the wall after the Loughmacrory defeat. I'd imagine our next manager will be from within the club

Who would be the candidates for the job?

The problem is I don't think there is too many from within, like most clubs they have tried and tested alot of the potential 'managers'. Michael Gallagher seems to have good experience as a coach with youth/county teams so Im sure his name will be in the hat. Personally I feel an outside man is still required who has a proven track record, they are hard come by at the moment (especially at the right money).  Clubs are being crippled by managers & coaches charging £150/200 a night unless they have a sugar daddy covering the expenses. 

Will be an interesting winter none the less.

The problem with this is that I hear everybody saying this.  No one disagrees with the sentiment

BUT who is actually standing up in the clubs at the AGMs and saying this is wrong and stopping it?

The line out was poor, in the first half, especially early on.

Now I'm no expert but what was the issue? Was it the lad throwing it or was it the lads mistiming their jumps....or a bit of both.

You'd think the lad should be able to throw the ball correctly. Is it a difficult thing to do? Just, to me, seems a simple enough and regular skill.

He seemed to go long for a few at the start and overcooked it.  Would he not have been better to just keep it simple and go short and not overcomplicate it by throwing it further?

Rugby heads will correct me I'm sure.

Holohan is very matter-of-fact, but I thought that was a very good interview.
Tubridy would have been too giddy and would have interrupted far too often - Kielty let him talk and I thought it was great viewing.

A very soft interview, I understand it being that way with the questions about his deceased wife. But, no push to ask Holohan on the disgraceful Cervical Check fiasco and cover-up, Covid restrictions, His quango job in Trinity that went tits up when it went public that it transpired he actually was going to do nothing.

A very wealthy man, with a huge pension - now writing a vanity book about himself.

What way does this work?

As LLS usually has quite a few on who have just released a book, does the writer/book company pay for an interview or does RTÉ pay the guest for the 20 min interview?

Did they add back some of the fuel duty that they subsidised?

This was the second of three steps to restore the cut in duty last year. However, they don't look like going ahead with the third one in October as oil has gone up.

This strong team was going to go like this:

I think what'll help PK is that show is only 90mins, plus it'll be a shorter LLS season.

Throw in an ad or two and it'll be down to 80 mins.  Very manageable.

Something that has been missed in all this is I think the Derry players are well focussed and driven themselves.

The culture in the panel seems high and they understand that they're a Top 4 team.  If they learn the lessons of semi-final V Kerry, they'll be in a really good place in 2024, especially being in Div. 1. Panel needs beefed up a bit though.

They have a good group of experienced players who know how to win and are seriously driven.  The manager will be very important obviously but maybe not as important as many people think.

Just home from the club, great that we go into our 5th county senior SF in succession, on top of league winners, yet still endure CBs very obvious condesesention that PG1 don't belong anywhere near the top table -  which gratefully is at long odds with the majority of observers here.

Maybe Cargin can aspire for a run through Ulster,  but wouldn't it be great if we could really all get behind that.

Don't be letting CB get under your skin 

There's a good chance you will face Cargin in the final this year, you will have your opportunity to put them to the sword.
