Thankfully they don't have to play one of the best teams in Europe every week though so the need to play like they did is not necessary for a whole season.

They plaed pretty shite for most of the season as the league table tells.

With all the excitement and euphoria of the game last night, spare a thought today for the 96 people who died on April 15th 1989 in Hillsborough. RIP the 96, I hope they were looking down last night and enjoying it. This is the last year there will be an annual commemoration at Anfield, which is sad in one way, but proper in another, given the Inquiry et al. But while there won't me an official commemoration, it goes without saying they won't be forgotten by anyone that follows LFC.

RIP.  They will not be forgotten by anyone who saw the dreadful scenes that unfolded on our TV screens that day.  Those memories will remain for a generation of football fans, Liverpool fans or not. 

Since the long-awaited justice seems to be around the corner for the families and they hope to move to some sort of closure,  it would be fitting for LFC to now move mountains to bring comfort to the families of Heysel, which has been almost been wiped from memories given the internal pain of Hillsborogh. It remains an open wound with the Juve families and fans and any LFC moves to accept any sort of culpability (in 2000) came much too insincere, too little and too late.   The uncomfortable truth of Heysel is still apparent by the huge no of Heysel deniers among LFC fanbase who refuse to accept that the actions of LFC fans led to the deaths. 

If the injustice at Heysel was now given the same exposure for a few years as that at Hillsborough it would go a long way to repairing the damage.
