Honestly never seen the likes of it before...the reaction from it is ridiculous and guys jumping in here is a bit embarrassing tbh. It's a call that sometimes you get and sometimes you don't, it's the timing and significance of it that has most people rattled. I genuinly thought it was for an elbow to the jaw as I had to watch the game on Celtic TV and not SKY and that's what they were saying at the start of the check too. I could start here and name 50 other incidents we didn't get over the season that we thought were nailed on so I'm not sure why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist.
The penalty was given at 94 min and 50 seconds and there were 5 mins of added time allocated so that's another load of shite about playing all this extra time. Motherwell are a great footballing team and deserve all the plaudits they've got all season, they're damn hard to beat and particularly at home. Celtic did not play great last night and I suppose Motherwell had their say in that.
Roll on Saturday and the worst part of it is I have to stick that pessimist and Yap "JimStynes" all day :P . Celtic are on a roll and at home, Hearts will not handle this pressure on Sat and will be beat. Their away record is quite poor and the atmosphere might just be too much for them, the joy seeing that w**ker McInnes's face red with anger after getting pumped will be the icing on the cake for me as his comments last night were inflamatory and disgracful tbh along with that other jester/clown Kris Boyd.
C'mon Celtic...just one more win and then let Dunfermline win the cup just for the old Lurgan man to have his glory...Ohh and it relegates Sevco to the Conference League if Dunfermline win the cup ;) .

Was reading there about Motherwell schooling us in the last game at Fir Park and that's all well and good, there's no lies there but this isn't the same Celtic team and manager. We've players back in form, we've momentum, we've a differnt manager and we've eveything at stake here. I just can't see the same outcome as before, MON will just not allow it.

The team kinda picks itself with the exception of one position and that's the left wing. I know this sounds nutts but id play saracchi on LHS with Tounekti to come off the bench but another way of looking at it is not to be experimenting at this stage with 2 games left.

Quote from: SaffronSports on May 12, 2026, 03:39:31 PMYang has been pretty good this year. It feels like MON is shuffling a few lads he doesn't really have faith in as the 11th man. Tounekti seems to make an impression off the bench as does Jamesy. McCowan gave away the ball for the goal then committed the cardinal sin of throwing the arms up instead of chasing the ball he lost but he did make a clinker of a pass for the equaliser.

All that matters is getting a win tomorrow night. Tough, tough game and I am extremely uncomfortable with talk of Saturday before Saturday actually matters.

Think most Celtic men are v worried about tomorrow nite and it's all we're focusing on. I think we will beat them as MON is great at motivating them and with 2 games to go it shouldn't be too hard (to get motivated)...I'm going for a 1-3 win for Hoops tomorrow nite

This Antrim man has me ready for the Nut house, he's worse than a nagging wife. ;)

Monaghan will not be easy beat and have been like that for a long time now. I do still think Armagh will win but the winning margin is anyones guess...Armagh are so unpredictable but the last game v Down was the first in a long time where they kept the throttle down for the whole game.
I'll guess Armagh 2-20 Monaghan 1-18

Quote from: Main Street on May 11, 2026, 02:46:10 PMYour treble will surely come a cropper in Clones.

I have seen Motherwell in better heath than what they showed v Hearts, they deserved the draw for sure but just about deserved it.They were missing hard man Paul McGinn  at centre back and one of their better midfielders lukas Fadinger whose partner was due to give berth. You know what Roy Keane would say about that, I'd say 'woman take your time'.

Monaghan will not be easy beat and it'll not be the first time they sent us home packing with the tail betwen the legs.

Yeah, watched Motherwell v Hearts last Monday nite and thought they were not great and we have a good chance. Myself included here but there'll be some disappointed boys on Wednesday nite if we're beat as everyone has booked expensive flights for Saturday and if we're beat and Hearts win then it's a wasted journey. I'll not be going on sat if it turns out like that, don't care about losing the flights tbh as I got mine for about £70-£80 return but I know guys have paid a few hundred for theirs.

Was a great game to be at for atmosphere and Celtic are improving week on week, Ali Johnston back at RB, Arnie Engles back from injury and Maeda back on form is the difference. That also lifts the whole team, big Trusty gets bullied too easily for me but in saying that the Rangers forward is a big lump too and a handful. Great to have a 2 goal cushion for a change and some sunshine on your back with the atmosphere electric.

As you all say Motherwell on Wedesday nite is the next focus and whatever it takes to get over the line just do it Celtic and then roll on Saturday...Glasgow on Sat and Clones on Sunday, busy weekend.

Quote from: illdecide on May 07, 2026, 10:51:20 AMWas listening to a Podcast last night and they were saying "apparently" Hatate is not putting the effort in at training and is only going thru the motions. Hence, why MON is not playing him.

Podcast gossip ::)  If MON is not playing Hatate then it is a failure of management. Hatate played a key role in the 2 games against Rangers and little used since, meanwhile we have witnessed the players Nygryn and McCowan not putting in the required effort when it matters on the field of play. What is this nonsense about Hatate who clearly looked like he was coming back into his effective role in the team is being shafted for players who evidently either don't break a leg when it comes to effort or say in the case of Tounekti is pathetic in his efforts to shift the ball to his right foot and get a shot in. Hatate supposedly "going thro the motions" against Rangers is an infinite upgrade on those 3 wánkers. There's 4  at the back then you could have Hatate in front of Engels and McGregor, doing something different other that effin square ball after effin square ball, ie ball travels down the right wing,  pass it backwards then across to the left wing, run into a cul de sac, pass it backwards, rinse and repeat until the genius of Kelechi just happens to intervene in this dross and strike home with elegance.

Yeah like giving penalties away or getting sent off. I've said this before...Hatate reminds me of the GAA midfielder who makes 3-4 world class catches that are out of this world and has the crowd drooling over it and saying that man is brilliant but they don't see the 1-04 the other midfielder scored in the game that he was supposed to mark...Hatate is a bit like that, he lazy, he gives the ball away, he's lost his discipline (red card in vital game), he's given lazy penalties away and he simply can't be relied on when the men are in the trenches. The fact that he can do something great 1 in every 5 games is not enough, he walks about the place like he's in a huff and can't even be bothered to join in the huddle before the match (not that has any bearing on his performances) but for me it's all about him and he's a selfish w**ker who I'd have sold last year.
He may well come on in some game and score the winner to possibly get us the title but it still won't change my mind on him.

It will get done but when is the question...I was trying to go over this with a few work colleagues who we'd class as kicking with the other foot, when I put it to them that it's only their grandfathers time when Ireland was all one (2 generations ago) it really is not that long ago but as we have grown up with it it's like that's how it has always been...They're shocked tbf

My two bits worth on Hatate etc is...I'm in the MON camp here on Hatate, the man has a talent and is a fine footballer but not in that Celtic team. He gives the ball away too much in dangerous positions and lacks the drive to get back and defend, he has no guts and will duck his head to avoid getting hit with the ball. He'll pull out of 50/50 tackles and simply cannot be relied on or as other people put it "Martin simply does not trust him". This Hatate talent has been raging around Celtic for years now but he's simply not the same footballer we had 3-4 years ago, he's off the boil and is not one to roll the sleeves up and get stuck in. Granted he might do someting class on the ball about 1 in every 5 games but that's just not enough.
Nygren has scored 20 goals from midfield yet Celtic fans are split on him even playing...Compare that to Matt O'Reilly who scored similar goals but fans loved him and was one of the first names on the team sheet. Nygren offers nothing in general play but will ghost in and score goals but is that enough?. Can Celtic afford to have a luxury player who contributes nowt but can score you goals...I dunno.
McCowan got a new contract more based on him being Scottish and was on the cheap, I personally don't rate him but his home grown talent and cheap contracts probably helped him. As for Scales, he's no Paulo Maldini and can be a bit slow and frustrating at times you can't really argue with the games he's played. Solid enough and a squad players in the future and again like McCowan I'd say he's not on big dollars.

Quote from: general_lee on May 05, 2026, 02:24:08 PMI admire the optimism on here but Motherwell's recent form has been shocking. Their last league win before beating the Huns last weekend was February. Sevco are also at their most dangerous when they've nothing to play for.

Quote from: tiempo on May 05, 2026, 12:11:51 PMThe 3 title contenders haven't all bagged a win on the same weekend this year
They all won on 11/12th April

Yeah, agreed they had a poor run of form up to last weekend. Go and have a look at Hearts last 6 away games and see their form (W2-D1-L3).

Hearts away to Motherwell is a big one and a game that they can certainly drop points in. In fact looking at Hearts away record recently I will not be surprised if Motherwell were to beat them or at least geta draw. Can you imagine the atmosphere going into Sunday's derby with Hearts dropping points on the night before...Would be some buzz and I can't wait for the game, I've booked both Rangers and Hearts games so somethong to look forward too.
As for thumping Rangers...The optimist in me will say we can pump them 3-0 and boost our scoring difference but the reality will be a 2-1 grind with a possible injury time winner (if we are to win at all).

Quote from: EoinW on May 01, 2026, 11:44:14 AMDown v Armagh.  What impressed me about Down was how they defeated Donegal.  That kind of an upset, I would have expected them to be hanging on for the win.  Instead they won going away.

I'd say they have an excellent chance against Armagh, provided Down get goals.  Yes I know every team looks great when they get goals.  I do sense Down could have another 3 goal game in them and they'll need it.

Well that was my point a few days ago, Down will score goals and anything like that performance against Donegal and they'll win pulling up on Sunday too. Armagh's midfield is weak and winning that dirty ball or a high fielding catch is all in Down's favour. Bookies have Down +3-4 pts depending on the Bookie and that is the smart bet, Down will probably win with no handicap but to cover yourself that +3 or 4pts is stealing money. Down are back baby...

Are Down now favourites for Ulster?. After beating Donegal and beating them well at that surely they're the fav's. They're in a good place atm and the old Down swagger is back, God help Armagh on Sunday
