Did I imagine it or was there not a promise last year that beaten provincial finalists would get a week off. Did this not happen or does it just not apply to Ulster teams?

It's only for  Ulster teams as the GAA don't want ye to lose the bags o' spuds from ye're showlders 
I think Ros had a motion to that effect but it likely got lost in the GAA way of doing things somewhere along the line.
Anyway the Provincial Councils knew the dates for Round 4 from way back so they could have organised themselves a bit better.
The  Connacht Championship has  6 games ( 4 in Ireland) yet it took from 1st May to 17th July(barring a replay) to play it

I noticed from the sunday game that Cormac Reilly is maintaining his pathetic standard of refereeing in this instance he gave a penalty and then when the limerick players moaned he went to the umpire and gave a throw ball??! The man is shocking bad
