To complete this crazy thread, why not just say, every minor player from the year of dot apart from the one or two each year who eventually played for his county senior team at championship level for at least three years!

tones, dont like agreein with ye too often, esp this early in the year ;) but i concur;
to me the title suggests young boys with the world at their feet, that done little or nothin come senior time; some of the guys mentioned here had lengthy county careers, some have ai medals ffs;

one from our county has just come to mind, eunan o'kane, dungiven...

Heganboy, ta for confirming,
was a couple of yrs younger, so never really knew him, absolutely destroyed teams at u16 level, wasnt about much for our minor team; knew the brother more, far less footballin abilty but a real hatchet man lol;

Tommygunn, Paddy McAllister from Kilrea was full back on that team you mention, was very highly rated round st pats maghera at the time too, think he may have got a captains role ahead of tohill, though open to correction on that one;
had a solid club senior career, just never made it with the county;
there was also a rory mceldowney played half forward, tore teams apart for a stage, think he headed to america, played some soccer also, heard he had a car accident at some stage which would have curtailed him, though again not 100% on the facts;

a man i used to work with - jim hughes - told me he played for st pauls against glenullin, took great pride in that he nullified the threat of mcnicholl (not sure if dermot played in that team); dont see his name mentioned in the final, was he spoofin, or suspended???  Over to the anoraks :)

I see what you did there!

you give me too much credit lol
