Quite, what an absolute bell-end.  I thought MOTD2 is supposed to be a light-hearted show, really no call for that.  Snide thinly veiled comments like Murray's will legitimise and exacerbate the abuse that McClean is already getting.

It's not JUST about political allegiances.  If NI were a better team than Republic and were the ones with a realistic chance of qualifying for tournaments then plenty of the same boys would have opted for NI instead, the same way as they gravitate towards the best league/club they can play in/for.

I've yet to hear anyone criticise AP McCoy or Martin O'Neill for accepting their titles

 

I'd fancy McCloskey to win by at least 4 rounds.  Frampton will be keen to stop Quon witha big crowd watching and I think he will in the later rounds.  I think Adamek may last the distance but I'd still fancy Klitschko to win on points.

A man who has been reffing for 2 years (although I think he only does underage) turned round recently while watching a club game and asked how many minutes it was each half.

Victor Wanyama work permit granted.

Anybody know anything about this fella? I know he's a midfielder and Lennons plan is to play him as a centre back (he's 6ft 2"), but other then that
I've read his wiki page but that doesn't really say if he's any good of a player.

He's an unknown, so were Kayal and Izzy. Hopefully he's as good. Made his debut for Kenya at 15. Looks like he's built like a shithouse, hopefully we see a bit of him in pre-season.

Would agree the scouting system has been ok with Kayal, Izzy and Hooper being great finds.

Read that Victor Wanyama (great name for the terrace song writers  ) was suspended twice for 3 matches for bad tackle and on video evidence for an elbow in the face!! Will be interesting in the next Glasgow derby.

Hargan might surprise people at 3 but he cleaned out most full forwards he ever marked

Where is Fearon these days?

The Irish News have a small section each day in the paper where they print about 6 or 8 tweets from people's twitter accounts the day before.  They are usually from politicians or bloggers, but Tony Fearon bizarrely seems to feature a couple of times a week.

Yes he will Cike (if he wins)  it's a WBA title eliminator - so he's one win away from another crack at a world title.

The Claw - You can get Judah at 9/2 on a couple of sites and generally seems to be 4/1 - think at that price he is definitely worth a punt.

On Tyson, tell me this do any of you have any argument about Tyson making the hall of fame ?  Read an article recently by Teddy Atlas in which he argued that he shouldn't have ... i can see this post turning into an essay so will try keep it brief ... his main argument was that Tyson always came up short when someone didn't let Tyson intimidate them and they would go on to test Tyson that he didn't have any answer .. Would any of you agree ?

Needless to say Atlas has a lot of bitterness towards Tyson.  Read his book a few years back and it wasn't a bad read.  Summary of his relationship with Tyson is that he would have helped out with the training of Tyson but came to a turbulent end when Tyson (at the time 15) alledgedly sexually assaulted Atla's niece who was 11. Atlas reaction ..... he pointed a gun at Tyson's head and threatened to put him on a night train to the big adios.

He beat a lot of good/decent boxers in addition to a few questionable ones at a ridiculously young age for a heavyweight. He annihilated Spinks - who I don't think was intimidated - beat Bonecrusher Smith, annilhlated Tucker (Bowe only just beat him on points), completely dominated Ruddock in the first fight....the second coming well, wasn't quite the same thing, but I don't think there will be a 20yr old tearing up the division again in my lifetime.

The reason for that is that the Khan v Judah fight is for the WBA "super" belt.  Maidana holds the interim WBA belt at the minute and, if he wins his next fight, he will go into the ring with the winner of McCloskey v Prescott to contest the "regular" WBA belt.  A totally farcical situation with regards to belts, hard to know what to consider a proper world title fight any more.

Is WBA the only one of the recognised (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF) organisations to have this super-belt arrangement in place or are they all doing it now?

As always the betting market is formed and adjusts based on money staked - sure you only have to read Dublin being talked up by people outside of Dublin to see where PP reach those odds and we'll have to listen to the usual suspects when we're knocked out in the quarters saying how Dublin were hyping themselves up blah blah..

The main reason for Dublin's short price is that they are already into the QFs.  I would still give Tyrone the best shot at stopping Kerry or Cork though.

Dana is in Lissan, a junior club in Derry, right on the Tyrone border.

They are intermediate- I think the clubs that have been involved before have always been intermediate as well.  I would think any club with a decent chance of winning an intermediate championship wouldn't bother with it given the time of year it's on.
