Let's make lots of money.
It's not that I ever had that much faith in politics or anything,  and used to read political statements based on modal verbs and non-committment/ cop out words, but the new style of bombastic proclamations and crude insults as a protocol is just depressing- Matty Shanks being a devotee on this island.  I'd love to be back as innocent, gormless me.

Ah, that's sad.  Always seemed such a genuinely sound, decent man.  RIP.

Quote from: trueblue1234 on February 28, 2026, 08:43:26 AMOne of my favourite shows when growing up. Have been afraid to return to it as not sure how well it would have aged. But an absolute classic for me.

It was a gem alright, Rimmer probably my favourite comedy character.  I look at clips or episodes now and then on youtube.  In a sense you could say it hasn't aged well, but that's the beauty of shows like that- it's nice to step back to that time and mindset rather than try to carry it forward.  Now and then, I make up random Space Core Directives in class or conversations- very, very few ever get them, but I'm well past the confusion or the funny looks or the riiiights!!

I'd love to see a stat about teams building 8 or 9 or 10 point leads, and getting reeled back in.  We could very easily have been turned over Sunday, and was thinking afterwards if we hadn't the wind in the first half, the game could have been so different.
The wind makes the game a bit like cricket, having to chase a target.  Saturday in Salthill could go either way, but the wind will be a huge factor.

Quote from: Armagh18 on February 16, 2026, 06:30:53 PMThink there were 25 or 26 seconds left when we got the last score.

28 by the clock in the ground which allows the keeper to not have to take the kick out before the hooter.
Daft rule!

One of many.  Like why is it a 20m free if you accidentally cause a 3 v 3 breach but a free on half way if you do it intending to get to win a ball?
On that point, if you haven't possession and you're 2/ 3 points up with under a minute to go, if your 3 up front charge back anyway,  couldn't you kill the game that way?

Could be a long 2nd half yet.  A blistering start, but breeze picking up.  Can't afford to give away goals, Armagh will get at least 5 two pointers.

He stays relevant not because many people read him because they find him interesting or illuminating,  or even entertaining,  but to wind themselves up and prove their point to themselves that he is a p***k.  Perversely, that keeps him relevant,  and when you apply that across the board in media, it ensures a depressingly high proportion of low standards.

Won't go down as memorable as a spectacle or a contest.  Only saw 5 minutes of the halftime show, I'd imagine Donald will be effusive in his praise...

So far away
Brothers in arms.
Honorable mention to Walk of life.
Might be a bit cheesy, but just such a feel good tune.  Loved the video as a kid, we used to nearly half kill ourselves in primary school trying to recreate the collisions, and for some reason the old guy standing up clapping, then turning away in disgust always stuck with me.

The Kieran Duff episode was one of the best for me.

I saw that Jamie retweeted that from Kate Hoey, so I had assumed that that doyen had penned it, and thought better not read that.
