The Isak effect, boys thats a sore one

Agreed, the last man to beat Real Madrid in a European final, that team is untouchable, Fergie's apex mountain

The saves Donnarumma made at Villa Park to get PSG through in the CL will go down in the annals, 1 on 1 against Asensio who was on loan from PSG, heart in the mouth stuff for the decision makers at PSG, in truth the CL was won in the January transfer window with the signing of Kvaratskhelia but you'll hear the usual 'no-one available in January' trope year in year out, the players are out there in abundance, the teams at the top of the leagues/CL have recruited better (players and mgmt) simple as that

They should have detailed scouting domestically and in Europe, been some seriously bad judgement calls over the years, you have to question who is considered the arbiter of good taste in relation to talent ID and recruitment because its been shocking

In the past Utd would have cherry picked the best of Villa Spurs Everton even Arsenal, they need Anderson from Forest, problem is they should have had him from Newcastle, bad miss, they're 4 or 5 players away from doing anything

Alonso was 4 points off Barca with a 70% win rate, crazy sacking tied to player power, lads stalling on contracts till he was gone

Timing is a key intangible in the alchemy of sport, perhaps right man wrong time and knowing Madrid they could have him back if hes still punching and on the scene in 10-15 years

Fun, action film. DiCaprio is good as a washed-up, stoned, former leftist terrorist trying to raise his daughter under an assumed identity, but Sean Penn steals the show as a far right colonel out to cover his past tracks as he tries to get accepted for membership in a wealthy, secret, elite white supremacist club. The background stuff is very on topic for what's going on in the US with Trump's immigration round-ups.

Bit disorientating as a film, seemed like 6 or 7 potential movies rough cut together, I'm sure that was a deliberate choice and parts of it work rightly, without Sean Penn's performance it would be the biggest bag of dung you've seen, he was class

Watched Milk over Christmas, decent oul show about gay rights in San Francisco through the 60s and 70s, Sean Penn did a good job of it, plenty in the supporting cast who went to do to good things as well

It wasn't far off the biggest bag of dung with Penns performance or not.

I know what you mean, I can only guess they meant to make it they way they did and its Avant-garde and therefore a bit out there, if they weren't trying to slightly bamboozle and that was supposed to be a straight shooter then it was utter toilet, I gave them the benefit of the doubt

Quote from: Armagh18 on January 13, 2026, 10:21:04 PMAny chance of stopping the Keane talk, Jim Gavin has a better chance of getting that job.

Sorry state of affairs at United, watching City buy up all the best talent, Semenyo scoring tonight, another player United apparently fucked up signing in the summer

Put a sock in it Wayne lad

Could Ferguson Keane not look at Paisley McGuinness for a bit of inspo?

Quote from: Baile BrigĂn 2 on January 13, 2026, 05:22:27 PMWhere is this Keane obsession coming from?

He hasn't managed in 15 years. He isn't in the frame for any jobs. He fell out with the decision makers at United when he was relevant. I would wager serious loot he hasn't been/won't be mentioned. He is a pundit now. Move on.

He's a cult figure and has cult followers; people who will happily state that Haaland deserved to to have his knee smashed in two, and people who take pride in Keane walking out on his country.

When you wonder about how Trump can pull the wool over so many people's eyes, Keane is not a bad reference point for the same thing happening on a local level.

Ah jes, last man out switch off the lights

Managerial stats

Michael Carrick

G139 W65 D25 L49. Win % 46.76

Roy Keane

G181 W70 D42 L69. Win % 38.7

You could use stats to suggest Kevin McStay was a better manager than Mick O'Dwyer, cop on

Keane brought her home 🏆 Carrick languished

Wilcox doing this to dampen down the sniping from class of 92, total self-preservation and hoping against hope that Carrick pulls a rabbit out the hat to justify the Ruben sacking and give them a cheap Ole style option for 26/27

Thats Carrick who did worse in his time over Middlesborough than Keane at Sunderland, and wans talk credentials like it means anything

Tuchel has to be their number 1 choice, problem is if they are outed as going after him or come to any sort of pre-agreement it'll take over the news cycle and derail Englands campaign (they're due to win the WC yeno), which Utd Wilcox and Sir Jim will then get the blame for, its beautifully poised for even more schadenfreude

Joacim Low interim and then assistant to Tuchel immediately after WC is the ticket they need

Any word on the stadium?

McCurry at 11 forces the opposition into planning for damage further out likely easing the heat on the inside men, as you say he has a very good range of passing and has laid on plenty of scores for Darragh, maybe thats where they tandem best

Conor O'Neill looks to be at ease in his first few outings, could surprise a few and push hard for a start, very silky, if we could find a John Maher type for CHF we'd be flying, appreciate he's young and yet to fill out completely but looks to have a very high ceiling
