Quote from: Milltown Row2 on January 21, 2026, 08:40:27 AMWould Arsenal now be best to put out the reserves in the finals games of the group, take rest the senior squad, prepare for the league, everything rests on winning that surely?
The worrying thing for the rest of Europe is that last night the didn't play Gabriel, Rice, Odegaard, Havertz/Gyokeres and possibly Marinelli who would all be in their best 11 and still win the game pretty comprehensively.

If Jesus can replicate last night's performance will give them another string to their bow as Gyokeres hasn't really offered that much through middle this season.

They seem very well suited to Europe, probably a fear factor in the opposition and free from the local pressures of bottling the PL - serious team, all 4 comps are genuinely up for grabs and you know he's going for the job lot, Pep taught him (and it was Mickey Harte taught Pep)

23 senior internationals for 11 jerseys, should be harder not to win a treble

Amorim truly was the Pep Guardiola of Wilfred Nancy's

Did I not tell you there was plenty of quality in the ranks to punch

16 senior internationals, plus a host of gifted prospects into 11 positions, its not rocket science

Carrick knows exactly what to do this weekend, stay compact and play on the break, has worked many times for Utd at the Emirates even with their classic teams

Quote from: ONeill on January 17, 2026, 11:48:09 PMHe needs to field the weakest team he can gather together against Inter.

He pathologically cant do that, will run Timber Gabriel and Saliba to breaking point

13 of Arsenals remaining 16 games are in London (or there thereabouts), a run of 5 6 7 wins any time soon will break the back of it

Hallmarks of a Geroge Graham team, very boring, absolutely scrumptious

Red Nev talking pure rot in the week was adamant even if Carrick won 13 of 17 he cant be kept on, interesting to see how that view evolves

If Keane was looking after the team it would have been 6

On a scale of 1-7 thats hot 🥵

In things that'll never happen, it would be nice to see McKernans directness given a go at 11

Agreed, the last man to beat Real Madrid in a European final, that team is untouchable, Fergie's apex mountain

The saves Donnarumma made at Villa Park to get PSG through in the CL will go down in the annals, 1 on 1 against Asensio who was on loan from PSG, heart in the mouth stuff for the decision makers at PSG, in truth the CL was won in the January transfer window with the signing of Kvaratskhelia but you'll hear the usual 'no-one available in January' trope year in year out, the players are out there in abundance, the teams at the top of the leagues/CL have recruited better (players and mgmt) simple as that

They should have detailed scouting domestically and in Europe, been some seriously bad judgement calls over the years, you have to question who is considered the arbiter of good taste in relation to talent ID and recruitment because its been shocking

In the past Utd would have cherry picked the best of Villa Spurs Everton even Arsenal, they need Anderson from Forest, problem is they should have had him from Newcastle, bad miss, they're 4 or 5 players away from doing anything

Alonso was 4 points off Barca with a 70% win rate, crazy sacking tied to player power, lads stalling on contracts till he was gone

Timing is a key intangible in the alchemy of sport, perhaps right man wrong time and knowing Madrid they could have him back if hes still punching and on the scene in 10-15 years
