I get Coleraine is cheaper than Cork, but that doesn't explain why some students go to London or Edinburgh instead.

Its probably easier to get home from London Manchester etc than Galway or limerick or cork.

Quote from: Harold Disgracey on May 10, 2026, 04:07:10 PMI hope they had cameras in Carlow, sounded like some game. Antrim won 6-17 to 2-26 with a last gasp goal deep into extra time.
The Sunday game will give it 90 seconds if any. They are all about promoting the secondary competition.  ;D

Ended 1-15 to 1-13 to Donegal today in the replay.
Yes much better performance by Down. Played a kong time with 14 men from what i hear. So possibly feel thry left it behind them. Considering the scoreline when game was abandonded last week Down did really really well.

But is it not good that the spl isnt decided b4 easter for a change. Celtic will have a big task in replacing O'Neill . Woukd be some achievement if he won the title with that side and the cuo. Had they just give him the whole season back when rodgers left he would be on course for the treble.

Down / Re: Down Club Hurling & Football

I dont thonk anyone said the TC was below Down. We are where we are becuase of years of poor management of underage structures. Laveety is doing his best with what he has at his disposal. And Down have certainly improved over the last 4 years. Not massively but sunday was the 1st time i would say they gave up under Lav. For me i think Armagh will win the All Ireland. McGeeney is as driven as ive seen, Kildare got rid of him too soon they didnt know what they had and are paying for that now.
It will take a long time to get over that defeat. Winnin gthe Tailteann cup doesnt seem like much of a consolation but it will guarantee what thry need for next summer. Ulsters a minefield and the luck of the draw. We dont want to lose it but an all ireland series from the start would be amuch fairer route.
Lavs biggest challenge now is to keep that grouo together and try and strengthen for next year. A few notable absentees from his own club would be a good addition for next year. Go put and go full tilt at the TC.

Fsir play to Armagh they were ruthless yesterday. Good team that no one will want to face. Down arent as bad as that scoreline suggests . Armagh were a machine yesterday.

Veey tough result to take. I knew going to Clones yesterday it would be hard. We started well but as said above the wheels came off after the 2 gifts of goals. Armagh were magnificent fairplay to them no one will want to play Armagh. Im sure they will be there or there abouts come mid july.
The management and players will be devastated. A defeat that size is very hard to take. To experience such a high and a low in 7 days.
There is no doubt Laverty is the man for the job,no one that sees Down regularly would disagree with that i dont think.
The issue lies further down at underage. No way do Down produce worse players than the Armaghs Donegals or Tyrones. But what is done at a coaching level needs to be seriously looked at. Bar Lavertys U20 teams we have consistently been dreadful at underage. The minors were hammerred in donegal although they got a reprieve with the weather. The U20s are only good enough for B competitions.
I assume Laverty will go all out for Tailteann but maybe a break for some of the players would do them good and try to develope a few more squad players.

Quote from: Ronnie on May 02, 2026, 10:35:42 PMSell out in Clones tomorrow.  Would've been perfect for Casement.  Dreading the traffic congestion.
The traffic and the rain. No where does damp quiet like Clones

We don't cope well as favourites. Monaghan are a massive bogey team for us, if we manage to get past Down I'd probably rather Derry, we've totally outclassed them the last couple of times we've met
It wpuld.be some disaster if Armagh dont win Ulster now. Pressures on

Armagh are the form team here. Div 1 team, Won an all Ireland less than 2 years ago. One of the favourites for Sam this year.
It would be another major Shock if Down win on Sunday. Down havent won in clones in 30 years. Down werent playing Dov 3 for no reason.
