f**k talking about the Dubs today.

What a performance from Westmeath. Their fitness was amazing and they could have blown it a few times but got going again.

Great scores at crucial times and fairytale for Heslin.

Ronan Wallace would be an addition to any county.

Quote from: JollyGreenGiant on April 26, 2026, 10:08:24 AMI expect Louth to beat Dublin. But if Dublin were to overcome it, I would give them a better chance of beating Kildare.

I don't trust us to beat Westmeath. Luke O'Loughlin destroys us every time and we are very open to deep runners - Wallace did seriious damage in the O'Byrne Cup and we haven't addressed that.
Last year we let Egan from Offaly kill us, until the 3rd game when we put a wing back named Gill on him

So much will depend on who is fit for us. If Feely has 70 minutes in him and Beirne is near 100% then those two make a massive difference. Harry O'Neill is another man to add in and Colm Dalton is class, but picking up a lot of niggles.

The Dubs will surely have a kick in them but Louth are a very solid outfit who manage games so well these days.  Personally I'd like to see Louth v Kildare as the poxy blue jersey has us beaten before we line out.

Have to say I find London too busy. For me Paris is hard to beat when you are strolling down along the Seine on a nice evening.

Haven't been to San Sebatian but it's on the list - did do Bilbao and it was a class spot. Not as high end but super cheap and the Guggenheim is the best fun you will have in a museum. Thinking of heading to a La Liga match this year so Athletic or Real Sociedad.

I'd go:
Paris
Athens - a bit gritty but cool and the history is everywhere
Buenos Aires (it was before head the ball took over)

GAA Discussion / Re: The Sunday Game

I am wary of things crossing over so much but Michael Meehan as host on the GAA+ tactic show and Noel Connors and the lads doing the hurling are very good and just less stuffy and natural.

That's more for the live show, but the real issue for the highlights show is the volume of games to fit in. And then they try to shoehorn in a 'talking point' and show less than 2 minutes of a match where a camera was sent to.

Growing up as a United fan in the 90s I naturally disliked Arsenal but I admired their players and style of play.

I think a massive reason that people dislike Arsenal is the social media age and the fact that they have so many tools online. Arsenal Fan TV started it all and it got worse.

Nationally and locally we hear about Kildare having talent, but from following them for years it's often overblown. We are great when things are going well but make horrible mistakes under pressure.

And I know underage success is brilliant, but these lads often flounder at senior level. We have lads who can do it in Div 3 or against a lower league outfit, but then can't get the shot away or cough up the ball once a team is at or above their level.

It's not purely down to flakiness or mentality, it's just they are not as good as people think. Players who are good do the right things more often than not.
I still think that if we get some key men back in and get more closer to 100% we can beat Westmeath, but we just don't have a lad like O'Loughlin or a Wallace for that matter.

On the other side I fancy Louth to beat the Dubs as they just seem to trust each other and have great control. Plus they were missing so many who got a run out the last day.

I was justr saying to a lad yesterday it'll be very interesting to see how Meath build back from this.
Since Brennan took over it has been an upward curve and this is a first real kick in the stones apart from the Leinster Final, but I'd argue that had a life of it's own.

It's so nervous and negative in Kildare at the moment I was glad to see the back of Laois, but we were also expecting Meath to give us a trimming the next day and now it's Westmeath.

It'll be interesting to see if we have learned from the Championship last year or the O'Byrne Cup. Last year WH screened Feely really well and on the flip did the same to allow Connellan.
O'Loughlin DESTROYED us both times and the runs from deep from the likes of Wallaces are two other things we need to address.

The positive is that we should have more lads closer to fitness and Alex Beirne might be right.

Where else would he go? Genuinely wondering about other spots that would have the likes of him.

Also what security/ prison will be needed when he lands?!

West Ham seem to be picking up and Forest have more fight in them too.

Spurs are getting the stuffing knocked out of them and never really fancy it...

Oh I think we will beat Laois and Meath will be 6-8 points better than us.
Bizarrely against better teams we can play better as the game might be more open. It's when it gets messy or cagey our lack of football IQ really shows up.

A bit harsh but fair here - https://www.rte.ie/sport/football/2026/0415/1568382-spursy-kildare-look-as-vulnerable-as-ever/

I am hearing that there are a good few lads in trouble/ likely missing with hamstring injuries. Beirne being a big one and a couple more.
Laois are not great, but could catch us on the hop if we don't show up. If rumours are true, then we are looking at a tighter game...

Healy-Rae listended to his supporters. They must not be too worried about record homelessness down in Kerry. Or healthcare shambles.

Now these three young FF TDs - what the f**k did ye think ye were signing up for?!

The media and every fecker with a phone down there can't find the child or parents. They were 12 then 14.
There's a lot from Ganley, Hobbs and more who were 'speaking to a man' who had suffered X or Y.
But never any names or God forbid an interview...

I'm not sure if this should be in the WTF thread but Patrick O'Donovan weaponising Comisìún na Meán is v dodgy...

Just to come back on a reply to my earlier post. The war officially started on Feb 28th according to news reports. So a lad who can buy kit like that should be in a position to have some resilience to economic issues.

I will say that contractors do need big machines and the tractors cost a fortune, but you don't always need the biggest one or to buy a new one every year or two. That's something that the Grassmen fans don't seem to agree with mind.

A lad on FB put up a lengthy post about having to sell up his contractor business.
He was in tears and stopped at his grandfather's grave coming back from the protest.
I am not a heartless hoor so I felt sorry for him. But he signed off with a Trump quote so I has a look at his account.
12 weeks ago he picked up his new bailer and massive tractor...

I know these lads need serious kit, but if your business was that tight ya don't buy box fresh machinery.
