I wondered if it might be a red card because the end result was a punch in the face.  However where Murphy swings at is exactly where the ball was a second earlier.  I thought it was clear that the intent was to punch the ball.  Nevertheless it was reckless, which is why a red card wouldn't have surprised me.

It deserved a straight red and the resulting suspension.

He's been sent off himself in the past for offenses that were nowhere near as bad.

Closed fist regardless of where the ball was.
That's just, like your opinion man.

MM and a closed fist - never!

Armagh18

Don't think a closed fist tackle should be a red card obviously, but that was a couple of clear punches to the ribs/face. Red all day.

Milltown Row2

Closed fist going for the ball, yellow, closed fist intentionally (with intent to harm) as it was clearly for the first one, never mind the second one on the head was a red in itself..

He was nowhere near the ball in both occasions lol
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

A closed fist should be red. A open hand is a tackle, a closed fist is a strike. Simple as that.

The Kerry forwards Sean O'Shea in particular are fond of the closed fist tackles but a brushed over the Kerry/Yerra Madia.

O'Connor brothers Mayo getting with for years.

Murphy tackles only flagged because Kerry lad on receiving end.

The Kerry mafia won't be shy highlighting Murphy now.

They don't need to. The Tyrone and Armagh ones will do their crying for them.

Theres a difference in a closed fist tackle for the ball and hitting a few digs to the ribs and jaw nowhere near the  ball.

But there shouldn't be a difference.

Once you swing with a closed fist, you're increasing your chance of hurting an opponent.

There's no f**king need for it. Ever.

Not a chance. The closed fist tackle to pop a ball out from under the attackers far arm is a brilliant skill. Joe O'Connor did it perfectly to Ross McQuillan in Armagh last week. Great tackle.

If you did that to somebody on the street you would be up for assault. The yellow was given for the first punch to the ribs which was delivered while Casey was in possession of the ball. He had lost possession when he received the subsequent closed fist to the head. This second strike should be reviewed by GAA

It's also against the rules you clampet. And for the same reason you can't empty a player when he picking up the ball, and you can't foot block ie player safety.

I guess though you'd be quite happy with karate kick tackles as long as either a) the ball is played or b) Armagh is doing to tackling.

Jasus lads would ya wind the necks in ffs...I'm not St Michaels biggest fan (far from it) but it happens in games, just get over it and move on. It could and should have been a red card but it wasn't so...Game was decent, Domegal were good and Kerry were well below their usual standards. Kerry have a few injured lads to come back into the fold and there's nothing better than a hiding to re focus yourselves for the summer ahead.
Bumble Bee isn't too far from the window so Championship time is soon...Armagh v Tyrone is a mouth watering match to get us started in Ulster...Bring it on.
