As well as the phantom equalizing free, how can you give a penalty for a drag down stopping a guy getting to a goal chance and then not black card the perpetrator? That was incredible. two mins later he black cards a Galway player for something much less.

Again il say though, it would have led to an undeserved Galway victory. Mayo were the better side

In fairness the black card for the Galway sub in ET was a definite black card. He hauled back the Mayo lad off the ball. Was completely unnecessary as well as the ball was already long gone. That was actually the turning point in the game as Galway were 2 or 3 points up at that stage but were under the pump for the next 10 minutes with only 14. They couldn't work any short kick outs as Mayo pushed up with the extra man. Once Galway got back to 15 they actually had the better chances to win the game in the last few minutes of ET. Hernon had a great chance to win it but hard to blame a lad for missing when he's likely exhausted having played the entire game plus extra time. Even McLaughlin's huge free from almost midfield looked like it was going to drop over the bar before it fell just short at the very end.

A village around a 10 minute drive from Boyle. Like Paddy O'Malley of Westport he would have Roscommon family connections.

He was the Galway sub keeper during one of the recent minor finals I think.

Half time Roscommon 1-8 Sligo 0-3. Could be much worse for Sligo as the Rossies haven't taken a number of good goal scoring chances

Full Time Roscommon 4-13 Sligo 2-12.  Sligo to their credit went down fighting 2nd half Mayo v Roscommon final next Wednesday in MacHale Park.

Is the ref going to finally blow his whistle?... No, he's going to blow his nose

Mano

Another disappointing result for Sligo. Considering that 10 panel members came out of Covid enforced isolation on Monday they battled well to the end and made the scoreline look more respectable.

They did, never gave up.
Mad last few minutes with goals galore....the 2 Sligo ones and the earlier Ros one by Garvin were  some "strikes"
Great to see an old style midfielder making a string of high catches.
We'll hardly keep it kicked out to the Rhus though.

Have missed!
No didn't see them Lar but going by the comments here they were a better team than Galway who had a scatter of last year's AI winning team.

I wouldn't say Mayo were the better team to be honest. It was just a very tight match. Hence it going to penalties after extra time. You couldn't have argued had either side won it. And while Galway did have a good chunk of lads left from the AI winning side last December I'd say the most talented lads on that side (bar one or two exceptions) are now either overage or were still eligible but have already moved up to the senior squad so couldn't play the last night.

Culhane and McLaughlin were probably the two biggish names left from the AI winning side and McLaughlin wasn't fit enough to start the game and only came on towards the end of normal time. Culhane had one of his quieter games but defences were very much on top for both sides.

Hard to judge where Mayo are at based on that game. It was very poor quality football - yet the quality of the penalties from both teams were top class, as good as you'd ever see. The game was tight, tense very low scoring and maybe two good teams just canceling each other out. Mayo certainly are strong in the backs, and look to have a good scatter of strong, physical players. Ros are a good footballing side, but with a lot of injuries to key players. Should make for a great contest. Ara we'll win.

Teams that normally wins provincial titles are well organised defensively. On the evidence of the semi finals that would make Mayo the clear favourite but maybe Roscommon will step up and produce a good defensive performance in the final?

Have only been logging in and out intermittently for the past few days. Well done to the Mayo team on beating Galway. Only heard bits and pieces on the radio and the booing was awful to say the least. Especially seeing most of it was from the Mayo supporters. In one way that's the bad part of having a successful (in our terms at least) team, is that there are fans who weren't there pre-2011. However that's the only bad point so I'll take it, but seeing as there were only 500 in attendance it sounded horrible. Did I see correctly that the tickets for the Roscommon game are on sale tomorrow's morning at 10am?
