Are all women cat for it?
Herself loves nothing more than leaving every possible light and  electronic device on as much as possible. Heat on, electric blanket on, hot water on, outside lights on, Christmas tree lights on, tv on. Few token windows left open.

I can sympathise, source of 60% of our disagreements in Autumn/Winter. Another head melter (to me anyway) is radiators totally covered in the living room while sitting there and nothing on the ones in other rooms with no one in them.

I am the electric/heating police in our house

It was 12 degrees outside.
Our house is not cold.
Put on a warmer jumper I said

I can trump that....my wife had the heat on, the fire lit and the windows wide open for fresh air.

Women Really are a  different species . Can I still say that nowadays? Ah well, I've said  it now :D

I wouldn't be arsed too much to be fair, there is a small saving here and there, though I'd rather have the heat on and sitting with a t-shirt on than wearing a jumper..

She's a teacher so likes to 'save' money, so she'll ensure there's not much being lost with regards to energy
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought. Ea

Inflation is worse in the sterling counties. Sterling is losing value consistently because the UK is living beyond its means and has to borrow money just to pay the bills. So inflation is higher than elsewhere. It must be very hard for poor people in the North on limited budgets.

Aye, they have settled for Benidorm rather than the Algarve

To be fair, I dont mind the heat being on. Its one of the things I won't skimp on. You have to be comfortable in your own home first and foremost.

I read an article on BBC today about a uni lecturer who's struggling with childcare costs and cost of living costs.

People are always going to struggle with childcare costs. Child care means paying someone else to look after your children, the only way that would not be expensive was if that person was poorly paid compared to you. If the economy improves then you might get more, but presumably the child care person gets more too, so it will always be expensive.
If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

The basics are expensive.  Childcare is just one part. Bread and Milk have also increased in price. UK inflation is still higher than elsewhere.  I feel sorry for Unionists.  The UK is really in trouble. The Catholic countries are better managed.

The part in bold is total nonsense

The vast majority of Europeans don't struggle with childcare

The fact the those in UK & Ireland struggle is a conscious choice by gov't

Childcare adds zero value to the economy

This is exactly an area they should be subsidising if they want to get UK productivity up

Its subsidised in GB. I think up to 30 hours for 3 and 4 year olds. Not in NI.

As long as we continue to vote for parties based on the constitutional question and not on everyday issues we will have families and people in general struggling.

In an ideal world one salary would be enough for a good lifestyle rather than strangers having to raise your kids

The DUP go on  about  ni treated differently to Britain with Brexit.  But , there are plenty of everyday issues  that ni don't get. The childcare subsidies being one.

Apparently NI folk don't get  dental/optician free on UI like in britain  and
Nurses aren't  paid the same

imtommygunn

Doctors are paid a good bit different too. There are quite a lot of differences but it's just a card that's used when the DUP don't want something.
