They weren't allowed buy devices, but were smuggling them in from permissive locations.

Quote from: Armagh18 on March 06, 2026, 07:18:57 AMApparently the US have been cut off a lot of the intelligence end of things after they were purposely given false information and it was passed on to Russia, Ukraine been going well ever since!

Apparently, France helps out with intel these days.

This is not positive thinking, in my opinion

League table more or less corresponds to number of two pointers, although goals also win games

Quote from: thebigfullforward on March 01, 2026, 05:19:10 PMJust finished watching Dublin Roscommon there. First 20 minutes from Roscommon the worst a team has looked under the new rules so far I think. Went to a minor game instead and at least the young lads had a go at it

First 20 minutes Roscommon had about 12 shots and it included probably one of the worst misses for a goal chance I've seen this year.  Dublin from nearly every miss broke on the counter for easy scores and ended the game as a contest before half time.

We were awful today.
Relegation back on the table unfortunately.

Given recent performances, I was fairly  sure Roscommon   would beat Dublin with a few points  to spare.

What went wrong?  Was the conditions a factor?

These windy games place importance on who plays with the wind. Against Armagh, Roscommon had a confidence building early lead, and needed dogged defence in the second half. Against Dublin, they needed to come from behind and this may not have suited them.

Quote from: screenexile on March 01, 2026, 02:50:59 PMThat's probably the best Derry have played in 2 years but couldn't believe how poor Cork are. Hard to believe they travelled all this way to play like that.

Cork are always like that. They invariably give us a very tough game in Cork, but look like they crawled out of the hotel bar when they take the field in Ballybofey or Ballyshannon.

If you bet against Cork in away games, you'd come out ahead.

If Derry can squeeze past Cork, then they will be in a strong position, both owing to score difference but also a useful head to head against another promotion contender, Cork might easily slip up against Tyrone on the last day but Derry will beat Cavan. But if Cork win then they will likely be promoted.

Mullingar better at two pointers than Armagh!
Abbey fecked here, I think.

Quote from: bennydorano on February 28, 2026, 03:52:18 PMSome big units in that Mullingar team, 1.2 to 3 to Abbey after 20m.

Some of them lads used to eating Mullingar heifers, no 9 is a giant.
Abbey slow to start, with problems with the kickout, partly because of big units on the other side, but better after the first quarter.

Quote from: thewobbler on February 26, 2026, 09:44:44 PMWithout wishing to come across as a contrarian,

Not that anyone here would think that!

Quote from: thewobbler on February 26, 2026, 09:44:44 PMAnd then H&S would inevitably get their paws into it properly. It is their role in life to make things difficult. And soon every little secondary county ground in Ireland needs an officially sanctioned gantry, first aid on site, and evacuation plans. Plus a training  course for accessing those gantries.

Yet in many cases those gantries are already there for Sunday game coverage and county grounds have them for club coverage and because some of their games are covered.

Quote from: thewobbler on February 26, 2026, 09:44:44 PMYou want to watch football? Go to the game.

Attendances are often good, but it is a long journey from Ulster to Kerry or Cork. Yet it is often local derbies that are covered, where people can easily travel rather than games where they cannot.

Quote from: Rossfan on February 26, 2026, 07:51:05 PMCould be a decent income stream especially as less people go to League games but are still very interested.

You'd wonder at what their thinking is at this time of year, it is not as if the coverage would stop people going to club games.

Quote from: Captain Obvious on February 26, 2026, 06:44:31 PMIn the news today about how RTÉ has received €3 million from the GAA for its 50 per cent share in the Gaelic games streaming platform, GAAGO
An absolute steal. The GAA will recoup that in a couple of months.

Especially if they would actually show some games! Take Mayo v Armagh on Sunday, Armagh are well supported, the weather is going to be crap, people may not want to travel, if only because they could be halfway there and the game could be called off. Mayo has a big diaspora, so thousands might watch this, if they could.

Quote from: rodney trotter on February 25, 2026, 05:15:05 PMOne of the Gaa president wants a scaled back Casement which would suit antrims needs. Burns was too intent with a vanity project for which they are 100m short of funding.

Perhaps you can characterise it as a vanity project, but this was supposed to be of benefit to all 6 counties rather than a free stadium for Antrim.

In the 1950s Antrim could build Casement in the first place, now they just want a handy ground with half the capacity paid for by someone else.

9 counties, surely?

A 30,000+  stadium in Belfast never made  much  sense, financially or geographically.

The GAA wanted to benefit 9 counties, but the funding has a more limited perspective, otherwise they would just refurbish Clones.
