GAA Discussion / Ulster Championship 2026

Couldn't see another thread, but let me know if I missed it...

Donegal V Down confirmed for O'Donnell Park.

Should be some scramble for tickets!

McCumhaill Park is closed as they're redoing the pitch.

Thankfully we've started to win the odd game in Letterkenny these past few years!

Quote from: J70 on March 10, 2026, 08:56:30 PMFeel terrible for the keeper.

I don't.

He's the worst goalkeeper I've ever seen at Spurs (some accolade). Has not one single attribute that marks him out as a top flight keeper. And to top that his concentration is abysmal.

He'll be able to retire when his contract is up. And then maybe find something he's good at to do with the rest of his life.

FFS he's a 22 year old young lad. Human. With pride and feelings. Just fucked up on a massive stage, probably the biggest game of his life so far. I don't care how much money he's making, he's surely someone hoping to succeed at the highest level ans he's just blown a huge opportunity in an extremely public manner.

He has a guaranteed contract of about £7m.

Personally I find it impossible to have empathy / sympathy for anyone in this situation.

The life they're so lucky to lead isn't "human".

Yet his peers are all in the exact same boat. He has to go into work today. He's probably the pride of his extended family and his community of origin.

Just because you're lucky enough and gifted enough to excel in a field that brings fame and money doesn't mean that human feelings and needs and social pressures and work responsibilities just disappear.
Yes, to a point. But the reality is he is a highly paid elite sportsman. At every level of every sport there is an expectation of a basic performance level. Have an off day, especially in the CL knockouts, and you wil be hauled ashore.

Has Tudor not a work responsibility to the other 10 players and the broader club too?

I didn't say anything about Tudor or his decision in this case.

So at what age can you criticise an experienced player for taking a shit with his clothes on?

Where did I say you can't criticise him?

I said I felt really sorry for him.

Feel terrible for the keeper.

Saw bits of the first half. Liverpool's press had Galatasaray all over the place for the first five minutes, but sure enough they score on their attack as everyone is ball watching from a corner. Osihmen missed a free header soon after. Listened to most of the second half and it didn't sound great either in terms of defending or attacking.

Even if they get through with a good home performance (far from a given), they're going out once they meet a good team.

Quote from: Milltown Row2 on March 09, 2026, 10:20:48 PMIsrael will not stop until Iran and whoever else in that area they feel is not on their side.

The West Bank, followed by Lebanon Jordan Syria and eventually Iran

This thing is never going to stop

If only they'd have been more ruthless during World War Two

You ok Milltown?

Quote from: screenexile on February 06, 2026, 10:35:20 PMFinished Hamnet there. Very artsy kind of film which wouldn't usually be my cup of tea but it's very good.

As has been said the acting is phenomenal but there's just something powerful about it. It'll be hit or miss for a few here but I really enjoyed it and can see why Buckley is favourite for the Oscar she deserves it!

Just watched it this weekend. Loved it.

Buckley and Mescal were amazing, but the overall film was very moving. Especially if you're a parent.

Been some good films this year after years of shite.

Recently enjoyed Song Sung Blue as well, to follow on from Sinners, One Battle After Another and Begonia.

Glad to hear Ballhopper!

How the hell did VAR take two minutes to decide the second goal? Salah was clearly, at worst, in line with the ball.

I look forward to the day she answers for her crimes along with Bondi, Miller, Hegseth and the rest.

The world is a fucked up place at present. Meanwhile, Espstein is no longer the lead news story. It isn't even making the news at all.

It is over here. Bondi is going to be subpoenaed to testify under oath in front of the House. Plus, the DOJ admitted yesterday that they are currently redacting another 50K files.

It is not going away.
Isn't she the woman who swore they were all released? Should be locked up.

The daily shite coming from the current administration would be headline news for months in normal circumstances. A normal leader saying quiet piggy to a reporter would be a huge scandal and almost certainly be the end of their leadership, but for this shower it barely even registers.

Don't think so. Obama made a pig joke about a female political opponent during the 08 campaign and won by a landslide.

You made this false assertion a while back, but I'll correct you again.

Obama did NOT make a pig joke about Sarah Palin. He was talking about policy. And the phrase he used was something like "put lipstick on a pig, it's still a pig".

Of course the right jumped on it and tried made a disingenuous scene because Palin has spoken about liptstick being the difference between a grizzly bear and a hockey mom (or something like that) in her convention speech.

Unfortunately for all of them, John McCain himself had used the "lipstick on a pig" phrase months earlier when talking about a Hillary Clinton policy.

Quote from: Gabriel_Hurl on March 04, 2026, 02:36:46 PMThat's 5 losses this season coming from goals scored in the 90th minute onwards - tying a Premier League record

You can add the four points dropped against Fulham and Leeds in injury time also.

Plus, United's winner came with about five minutes left.

So that's at least 10 points squandered late on.
TBF there have been plenty of late winners for Liverpool also, maybe some which were undeserved so it balances it out a bit.

Yeah, but most of those came six months ago.
