Is it just me or is this 16team league a total anti climax. No team bar Creggan seems to be signalling anything productive. Alot going through the emotions and very little atmosphere in any of the games iv watched. Ud be better watching club football in Tyrone, Derrry or Down until after the July Holidays
Are you only working this out now. You really are a bit of a dullard!

Appointing a name like Davy Fitz at astronomical costs really paying off both on the pitch and off it. Some day the reality will hit home to invest the big doe in the youth structure and forget about these big names until we have a team that can compete

Since when has Antrim senior squad makeup been the barometer for anything.
In that case get your money on Moneyglass minors winning the A this year, they somehow have 4 starters yet played u16b last season and we're lucky to win it. Can't figure it out 😀

Had Minor club been U17 we might have had a chance the fact its U18 will hamper them. Portglenones to lose.
What makes you think they'd have a chance at u17? Dont see it myslelf, but 4 starters on the county minor team and your manager is also the county minor manager. What an advantage!!!

Sure what is a year at that age, 4 starters on the county minor team and your manager is also the county minor manager. What an advantage!!!

Good league side

;D And not a bad championship side either as Cargin know all too well!

There's more strength in depth in the panel this year so time will tell for championship. No doubting there have been positive signs so far. BUT, it's only league.
Aye that one defeat Cargin had to creggan. 1 defeat in 10 over about 15 years in championship games between the clubs. "Cargin know all too well".
What a clampit lol

Quote from: inabsentia on April 18, 2026, 07:50:33 PMAcknowledging the difference in playing standards (club and county), where do you start after that today?

Tactically: slow and ponderous allowing them to get back, set up and then force a turnover on the half.

Athletically: Obviously big gulf, but we looked slow and heavy legged. Even some of the more direct/speedier players looked a bit ragged.

Kickouts: At county level all we can work us an overload? That's a shambles. Other way we couldn't even get near theirs.

Derry were poor by their own abilities today, I don't think they gave away a scorable free all game and they easily could have had 3 extra goals in the first half alone. We had some individual bright sparks but it was hard to do that over and over again.

Can never fault lads togging out for their county, but there's failures at some level there because compared to last years run out against Armagh this is a backwards step
I was at the game, quite a dead atmosphere in the ground and very little Antrim support. Derry pressed Antrims kickout very hard particularly in the 1st half. Only for missing  serious chances and great goalkeeping it could have been a nasty scoreline. McCabe and Burns and possibly McAleer performed well.
Armagh beat Antrim by 11 points last year and Derry beat Antrim by 13 today, In reality it's just the same, albeit there was maybe a bit more blood and thunder about it last yr which came from the Corrigan or nowhere thing, but from memory Armagh rested a lot of players.
Its a similar result in the history books. Tailteann is our level not this.

Good game played with a fair intensity and a couple of great prospects on both teams at just 17/18 years old. Portglenone had their own Michael Murphy type figure in midfield, must of got away with double figure, let's say on the edge tackles and to not even be booked was pretty strange to say the least.
You take the rough with the smooth however and If we'd a man getting away with the same I'd not mind so not going to be a hypocrite. Should be a very open championship it looks like.

Fairly impressed by Antrim yesterday, a marked improvement from the last time I caught a game v Carlow. Pretty sure if Peter Healy had been fit for any of the first 3 games they would of went up.

A prominent minor player has signed from another SW Club. Will boost their chances of retaining the MFC, not sure about Adult players but they usually make a couple of signings every year from their neighbours Greenlough.

Quote from: Saffsof82 on March 02, 2026, 07:19:38 PMU20 had a convincing win against Wicklow ahead of the senior game on Saturday. Reality is our u17/u20 football could be competitive with around half of the teams in the country , but in Ulster we have the underage powerhouses of Donegal, Tyrone and Derry , with the others not that far behind.
This is very true, always makes it look worse when you Antrim taking a hammering from the likes of Tyrone, who are year in year out favourites for the All Ireland at this age. Hopefully in time they will scrap the provincial competitions and place teams in a draw at their own level. An A and B competition essentially and progress from there
