Very sad about the young Galway fella who died after slipping out walking in the hills with his family. (He was 17 and played for Salthill - Knocknacarra).

I'm surprised there wasn't similar in the Mournes this past while as loads of people were rushing down to climb mountains, they were ill-prepared to do so, for the all important social media photos, despite being told to travel for essential needs only.

Was a young person in the Mournes, madness, I love heading up Donard, but there is a time of year for it, or if you're a seasoned walker with all the kit!

I saw a tweet where someone said some young fella wearing trainers and those ankle socks asked him for directions to the Ice House 

Mourne Mountain Rescue were called out 5 times in one day last week:

The Mourne Mountain Rescue Team said it is "concerning" that a number of incidents they have been to lately have involved people "putting themselves at unnecessary and often considerable risk".

Yip, 5 times in the one day, don't think they ever got off the mountain that day FFS.

The Mournes, well Slieve donard anyway can be walked up by most novices but the weather up there can change in an instant, fog, heavy rain and strong winds...
