GAA Discussion / Re: Ulster Championship 2026
May 18, 2026, 03:47:13 PM
Momentum is massive in football now.  The last 10 mins had the feel of that spell v Kerry last year.  It is just so important to try and get your hands on the ball and wrestle back that momentum. Fair play to Monaghan for getting on that run.  Everything was going right for them and you could see the tails up.  The block by McMullen really probably saved the game in normal time as I fully expected Monaghan to get a shot away in that move.

I did fear going into ET that there would be a continuation of that last ten mins of normal time, but it all shifted again. A couple of quick scores settled Armagh, and then the goal killed it.  A word for McMullen again.  What a pass.  He is such a class operator.

Conaty deserved MOTM of course. A couple of times he got left one on one with a defender and you could see the fear.  Rightly so.  Conaty is rapid!

Great to finally put the Ulster in the pocket, with lots of difficulties yet ahead.

QuoteWhy is no one talking about City " bottling" the league?
It was in their hands after beating Arsenal then they mess up against Everton.
They might still win it but it's crazy to think everyone was saying Arsenal had bottled it but the same isn't being said about City.

No one cares, plastic club so they just don't really matter.

People care about  the 115 charges

When will that decision be made? If ever?
People care more about cheating than the team?
Fans of other teams want  charges brought to City. I'm sure City fans don't

How long is this  going on though? 4 years?  Seriously , what is the hold up?

Can't get the staff (judges) apparently 🙄

I suspect Chelsea will be keen to beat spurs. I hope they do and we are left with a nervy final day. Spurs at home to Everton could well be dodgy, especially considering their home form.

I really enjoyed "Michael" the biopic. It's well done, it's well shot and the music is of course great. I had no idea until after the film and I googled it, that the lead was his nephew Jaafar Jackson.  He does a great job for his 1st film.

Some things are covered that I didnt know about, and I feel some things have been glossed over a bit, but perhaps that is to be expected.  It looks like it'll be a 2 parter.  It'll be interesting to see how they handle the next part.

Quote from: AustinPowers on May 13, 2026, 11:53:56 AMCheers on TG4 - I'm into  series 3 now. I never really  watched it in the past , and I'm really enjoying it. Frasier has featured in quite a few episodes at this stage now.   A bit of an underwhelming character to date though , I have to say.

How  did he end up with his own spin off? And for  so long?

Maybe he gets funnier?

Ah what a show.  I actually should go back and watch it again. He maybe gets slightly funnier but my memory of him is still as an outlier.  I actually really liked the show Fraiser.  It was made by Niles though IMO.  The new series of Fraiser just didnt work due to his absence.

Complete tripe, with some of the worst acting you will see.
That advice is several weeks too late for me  ;D

That song they used 4 times every episode done my head in.

Was the name of the show not a dead giveaway?

Sometimes you just have to suck it up, knowing full well what to expect.

Still running one of the best gyms in the country and has a sauna on site now, doing unbelievably well. No such thing as bad publicity.

Expanding and due to open another quite large gym in Lurgan at the old centrepoint cinema site.

Decent free kick from Rashford that. I doubt they will keep him. Id take him back to Villa no problem, but for him it looks like being in the likes of Spain, Germany or Italy would be much better in terms of press scrutiny.

Quote from: lurganblue on May 05, 2026, 11:41:02 AMEmery playing a very dangerous game with that team at the weekend.  With top 5 not assured yet, I think he probably should have went out to beat Spurs.  Time will tell if he made the right decision, focusing on the tie with Forest.  Forest did something similar and still managed to win, but MGW looks to have picked up a heavy knock.  That's the risk.

Villa have Burnley (a), Liverpool (h) and City (a). Realistically they could end up with nothing out of those, with Bournemouth in particular breathing down their necks.
If they can't beat already relegated Burnley they may give up! Should be winning that which likely secures it.

Hmm as expected. Typical Villa. Make things difficult.

Villa were top class for the full 90. It's not often that you can say that. Sharp all over the pitch.

A word on John McGinn. He makes everything tick with this side. He sets the tone and demands that be met by all. Pound for pound, I am struggling to think of a better Villa signing.

I binged the 2 season of The Pitt.  I believe it was recommended on here. I'm not usually into medical dramas but I gave this a go anyway.  I'm glad I did.  It's a fantastic show that moves at such a pace.  I like the "24" style hour by hour breakdown.

There is loads of gore that on occasion I struggled with, but I suppose that's a good thing.  It is so realistic. Plenty of pain and suffering, that tugs at the heartstrings, with some things that unfortunately many of us can relate to.

The last few episodes of the 1st series were hectic and brilliant.

Quote from: lurganblue on May 06, 2026, 09:06:43 AMThe big lad Atletico had up front at the end was a complete pockle.

It felt like they were maybe getting into it a bit but when Griezmann went off they had no chance of scoring really.

Arsenal looked just OK. Obviously a final can go either way, but the other 2 teams look like they will cause serious problems for them.

Arteta up and down, outside his box, running after any balls that go over the sideline near him. What is the point in drawing a technical area?  About 8 Arsenal subs lining the sideline too at the end, wasnt a good look.

Oh no call the celebration police. The subs lined up to celebrate. Funny you mention Arteta and ignore the other manager doing the exact same thing. Also Simeone starting on the Arsenal Sporting Director ignored. One rule for one I guess.

Far from the celebration police. This is final stages disruption of a very close and tense semi final.
