Beaten 3-0 apparently by their own U21 team ;D

http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11677/10177430/remi-garde-watches-aston-villa-lose-to-clubs-u21-team

Quote
Aston Villa manager Remi Garde watched his side lose 3-0 to the club's U21 development team in a behind closed doors match at their Bodymoor Heath training ground last Friday.

First-team players Brad Guzan, Alan Hutton, Ciaran Clark, Kieran Richardson, Ashley Westwood, Jordan Veretout, Idrissa Gueye, and Scott Sinclair all featured for Villa in the match, which offered little to please Garde.

Leandro Bacuna and Jordan Ayew also featured, but were included in the U21 team.

Thankfully this shambolic season is coming close to an end, and with it some of the causes are being shown the door.  Fox and Almstedt gone and a new board in the making.  Starting to think that they may be able to stop the slide in the championship cos for a long time it was looking like league 1 was calling.

I read an article by Michael McMullen once and it started off by saying that you know you're getting old when you can count the 'ever-presents' in the top flight of.English soccer since you started following it on one hand. With Villa gone next season, I'm down to 6.

Statement from Lerner today was a pile of tripe as usual.  I can only hope that it is actually his farewell message as the sale of the club is impending… however, we all know that even though Sky is reporting a sale announcement within 48 hours, it is more than likely more bullsh*t, as usual.

They're in it now. I think he means all the teams that are not in it at the moment.

Welcome Dr Tony Xia! Lets hope the rumours of your wealth are true.  I was thinking that villa could easily go down to league 1 but now i have blind optimisim that a swift return is possible.

DiMatteo looks likely to be annouced soon as manager too.  Not too sure about him but willing to give him a chance as he managed to get west brom out of the championship.

Di Matteo led MK Dons to third place in League One .They then lost a play-off semi-final on penalties to Scunthorpe United in 2009. In his first season at WBA and  finished second in the Championship in 2009. He won the Champions League and FA Cup with Chelsea in 2012. So he has form and pedigree.

John Terry. What an absolute cretin. Wont complain if he performs though.

Biggest ever championship signing?
