I couldn't find another thread but is it going to be a Seanie/John double-act. Hoganstand seems to suggest it might be!

Sligo chairman John Murphy has said a new football manager could be in place by the beginning of next month.

Former Longford and Westmeath manager Luke Dempsey, Pat Kilcoyne and Anthony Brennan were all nominated for the position in September, but it is believed that the Sligo county board are considering others outside those nominated.

John Maughan has been linked with the vacancy, while Charlie Mulgrew may also be interested after the Donegal county board failed to appoint him and Declan Bonner as joint managers last night.

The position has been vacant since Tommy Jordan resigned in the wake of the county's heavy Connacht championship defeat to Mayo, with John Kent having acted as stand-in manager for the shock Tommy Murphy Cup loss to London.

"There is a county board meeting scheduled for November 4 and there may be developments by then," Murphy said.

"The process is ongoing and it is more important we get the right person rather than get this done by a particular deadline."

The above is the article in question, try to insinuate what you want but i dont think so. For me Jim McGuinnes would be my favourite but considering i wasnt on the interviewing team, its a shot in the dark.

3 were interviewed last week and as said above appointment is imminent. They'll prob interview mulgrew this week seems he got shafted in donegal. But who knows who there interviewing. FAO of Murphy, youd want to get the finger out and make it soon.

How did you find out Barney!

Glad my picture is bigger than Maughan's anyway. Good man.

I'd have more confidence in the guy in the big picture than the little fella... and I don't just mean our Seanie
come disagree with me on http://gushtystuppencehapenny.wordpress.com/ and spread the word

I heard some man called Ben Bulben was very good. Majestic.

Well he's certainly seen it all, but time probably isn't on his side given that he is 350 million years old. Still though Mick O'Dwyer is older.

I d be amazed if Maughan had the stomach for it. And he probably has too much baggage now. Looks like people only see the negative stuff. Unlike another fella i could mention who has Joe Public eating out of his hand with guff and spin and the glow of distant success.
The difference between the hop of a ball and a root in the hole is very small.

I would nt expect the magpie will be interested either. There is nt enough sparkle to them anymore.

Was looking at the Weekender online there and noticed that Dudley Farrell has indicated he'd be interested in the Sligo job.

Dont much about him, just whats said here. its out of left field though. In all honestly we are totally reliant on the CB quality at interviewing candidates. Im mean they surely have mastered it now and learned from all the mistakes of the past in hiring managers ;), surely theyve a excellent interview process by now that guarntees we get a good man.

We'll all just have to wait and see but i like the comments Farrell makes, but where does he work, Meath to Sligo is long trek for training and matches. Jordan was all talk too but was a joke when it came to walking the walk.

I would think Dudley Farrell would be excellent. However, I think the Weekender may have got a bum steer on that one. Word is that the bearded eternal student is to come into our midst.

They offered it to me first though!

Expenses weren't what you had hoped for Seanie? Or having to select Mary's players perhaps?  :P

No, much worse - a gagging order!
