From what I have seen and heard of Jack O'Connor, he appears to have the same driving obsession that Harte has. No disrespect to Pat O'Shea or what he achieved, but O'Connor should never have been let go. Any other county in Ireland would want O'Connor as manager. He seems to be a real tough focused individual. Surely he has to be given another stab at it. I think, given the right support he has the tactical ability and focus to win three or four more AI with Kerry. Apparently though winning All Irelands isn't good enough in Kerry!!!!!!!

Can't see Micko wanting it. No win situation - how can he better four plus three in a row? And if he loses at all his halo is tarnished. Much better for his rep/saleability to be seen to make improvements with hopeless cases.

If o'Connor didnt write his book then maybe he might have a live chance. I'd say he rustled too many feathers to ever get the job again.

QuotePaidí is only interested in media work now (and wasn't that good to begin with)

Quiet! He is the only Kerry manager to have lost to us in Croker in a gazillion years.

According to Tony Leen in today's Examiner Jack O'Connor will be the new Kerry manager. Nobody else being considered and Geaney has indicated he is not going forward. Leen usually has the inside story - though sports editor of the Examiner he really is a full time PRO for Kerry football!!

I wonder what sort of em arrangements will the Kerry CB put in place this time for Jack - surely more than th family holiday that compensated him for part time teaching during his last stint  ;)

11th November is the date set for new manager to be in place.

There are reports that the Kerry County Board has targeted Jack O'Connor as the man to take the reins as football manager once again.

Kerry officials want O'Connor to replace Pat O'Shea, the man who took over from him in 2006.

The county board have appointed a three-man committee to find the next manager but O'Connor is understood to be the only person on their shortlist so far.

Sean Geaney ruled himself out of the running last week, citing personal reasons for his decision.

jack o connor is currently managing kerins o rahillys club in tralee (one of the best run clubs in the country) and spent yesterday plotting the downfall of his own south kerry in the co championship semi final which ended in a draw after extra time (b sheehan after missing a few put over a 55 yard free to level it up in normal time). he has done a great job with them but how many hours are in the day for jack? dont think he will come back this soon but the talk is he will

It would be the greatest additional motivation Tyrone, Armagh or any other Ulster team would need to win Sam next year if Jack O Connor was reinstalled as Kerry manager after his disrespectful and disgraceful comments regarding Ulster teams and Ulster people in his book Keys to the Kingdom.

What did he say? Did he coin the term "nordie"  or something? :o
