there seems to be an escalation in violence from dissident republicans, short of Ian Ogs call for them to be shot on sight, what should be done to prevent them trying to send us back 30 years?

Don't know Dodgy, but it's an uneasy time. The dissents only have to get "lucky" once and the British only have to do something stupid once and we're right back to the bad old days.
