Bit strange that McIlroy did not speak to the media after any of his four rounds ?

Probably not happy with them due to the change in driver.. Scottie didn't seem to mind the change after winning
None of us are getting out of here alive, so please stop treating yourself like an after thought.

Since the Masters, Scheffler has gone T8, 1, 1 T4, 1, including the PGA and the Memorial.

Rory might have been in good form and completed his Slam, but Scheffler is still comfortably the best in the world right now. Relentless.

Think that's key - Rory clearly not in good form. Even in decent form he'd have run at one of those tournaments with Scheffler. I am curious what we are going to see the rest of the year from Rory. He's too long in the tooth to still be celebrating the masters win. Something has to be afoot, particularly strange for him to have missed the memorial.

gallsman

Nah I mean that he was in good form in the lead up to the Masters. Won at both Pebble Beach and Sawgrass before the Masters. Finished last year very well too in the middle east.

Puckoon

Ah yeah, agreed. Rory hits shots that Scottie (I think) can't or doesn't hit. But he also hits shots that Scottie just doesn't hit. I like Scheffler but he's borderline Steve Davis, it's just a boring watch.

Curious to see what Rory has to say about a lot of things next time he talks to the media. The driver head, the poor performance at the PGA, and skipping out on the Memorial.

I'll be there to see him and Shane this week

I'm not sure it's fair to talk down  Rory's wins when up against a Sheffler in poor form, but at the same time talk up Sheffler's wins when Rory is absent or in poor form.

Scottie is relentless, no doubt. He's a deserving no.1 the past few years. I just don't believe he can bully an in position Rory the way he does to most of them. That's when his game is different, and he goes out of form.

Rory not in with a chance next week on this week's showing in Canada. 9 over for the day, new driver all over the map. Looks thoroughly disinterested.

By all accounts Oakmount has rough as deep and sticky as has been seen before for a US open. If he doesn't figure out the fairway finder it's gonna be a quick trip for him.

Lowry well in contention in Canada this week, hopefully he gets over the line on one of these near misses. Saturday seems to be setting him back in recent weeks.

US Open

7:40 a.m./1:25 p.m.: Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, Shane Lowry

It's an all-European grouping that leads the Thursday morning wave. McIlroy and Rose battled it out in an epic playoff at the Masters, but have struggled in the two months since that duel. McIlroy, despite the recent struggles with his driver, is among the favorites again. He missed the cut at Oakmont back in 2016. Rose won the 2013 U.S. Open at Merion, but has just two other top 10s in the event since. Lowry was the 54-hole leader at Oakmont in 2016 but shot 76 in the final round to finish runner-up.

A lot of ads!!! Good start from Rory.

Shane not a happy man. Throwing stuff around the place slamming his wedge into the ground.

He can be a bit of a prima donna when things don't go his way

But he just dunked it for an eagle from over 150.

Good old Rory. Out in 33, home in 41.
