Star Wars is the greatest film EVER.
Owen Roe O'Neills GAC, Leckpatrick, Tyrone

Main Street

There were 2 Classic Movies on the box recently

The Gunfighter  1950      Gregory Peck
Bad Day at Black Rock 1955  - Spencer Tracy at the centre of a great cast

I never get tired of those 2 films

J70

A couple of my favourites...

From here to eternity
In the heat of the night
Sergio Leone's four classic westerns and Once upon a time in America
Animal House
Blazing Saddles
Gone with the wind
Rocky (don't care who laughs - its a superb film!)
Any number of John Ford/John Wayne films (The searchers, The quiet man etc.)
Howard Hawks' John Wayne films (they're all exactly the same story, but they're still thoroughly enjoyable! - Rio Bravo, El Dorado and Rio Lobo)
Goodfellas, Casino, Mean Streets, Taxi Driver

In true Barry norman style, my top ten classic movies in no particular order...

The Godfather
The Empire Strikes back
12 Angry Men
Its a Wonderful Life
Casablanca
Jaws
Vertigo
Rear Window
Lawrence Of Arabia
Butch Cassidy And The Sundance Kid

... and i could have made it 20!

Fir the people who said they haven't yet seen Wonderful Life, the same Mr. Norman was once quoted as saying that "...every man woman and child should see this movie, in the interests of making the world a better place."

The Third Man - has there ever been a better marriage of location, script, screenplay, direction, performances etc.?

Phillip Kaufman's The Right Stuff is worthy of a mention as a underrated, overlooked movie.

Denn Forever

Field of Dreams.  Build it and they will come

Have been recently enjoying the early evening films on RTE1 on Saturday.  They are for the children but are perfect to park your brain in neutral and enjoy.
I have more respect for a man

means what he says...

The Sting, Paul Newman and Robert Redford - genius
Every time you open your mouth you have this wonderful ability to continually confirm what I think.
