Surely not Benburb.  The Priory with its cosmopolitan clientele, the pub that is now the Bottle of Benburb, the pottery, the basket weaving place, the waterfall (I know that's stretching it), the big houses being built and the proximity to Tullysaran!

QuoteRathfriland has always struck me as place in a timewarp. Newtownhamilton is another.

Spot on Wobbler, these places make Omeath look like Dubai.

Baltinglass, Co Wicklow.

If at first you don't succeed, then goto Plan B

19 replies, and yet no mention of Granard. Remarkable that.

I just hope 30,000+ haven't forgotten, otherwise they'll miss the match.

Clogherhead; least said
Is it like it used to be? Is the pier still there?

From what i hear it's managed to get worse. Pier still there, along with the big tree.

Where's Granard?
Longford. Their contingent will doubtless fill you in.

Tulsk in roscommon the only thing good in in is the road to mayo ;)

One of the most historical places in Ireland actually. Just out the road is Rathcroghan, the ancient capital of Connacht. The Tain trail begins there.

Indeed Ros has  a civilisation and heritage stretching back thousands of years while all they can think of in Mayo is the road through Ros .
Why dont we stop being charitable to our more challenged neighbours and put a Mayotoll on the N5  :D

Roscommon, Co Roscommon

Spent a very wet Sunday in Dr Hyde Park a few years ago.
Spent a weekend in Roscommon town last year . Family event (girlfriend's, not mine). Truly was the most depressing place ever. Although, the fact that it was raining all the time didn't help.
Was also in Limerick over Easter.  If ever a city wasn't really a city... (Lisburn, Newry etc aside) The place is also filthy.
