No ligaments torn, and looks like 8 weeks out, apparently. Good news (that it isn't a torn ligament).
Carlsberg don't do Gombeenocracies, but by jaysus if they did...

yeah great news that, on top of galvin that had the making of a disaster. kerry will certainly need him this year

According to the Examiner he's had an operation on the knee regardless, mk, but I'd say that was more exploratory than remedial.

Apparently he'll be back for the 1/4 finals.

Kerry aren't exactly stuck for options in the half forward line, but 2 men out in the defence would be a different matter

Hopefully Declan will be back in action sooner rather than later The GAA summer will be poorer for his loss, its his second major injury of the year so hopefully he will mend quickly.

Heard he had a knee operation on Tuesday, he is a huge loss to us and possibly even a bigger potential loss than Paul Galvin. We are lucky to have a few talanted players to step us in the likes of Eoin Brosnan, Darren and Sean O'Sullivan, Donnacha Walsh, David Moran, Tommy Walsh, Kieran O'Leary, Paul O'Connor and even the likes of Gooch, Bryan Sheehan or Mike Frank Russell could be moved from the inside line. Not sure if any have the ball winning capabilities of Paul or the play making of Declan. Other options would be to bring Killian Young back as a wing forward, someone who would forage around the middle or move up Tommy Griffin or Daniel Bohane , though I dont think any of those options will be explored. We tried converting Eamon Fitzmaurice to a Centre forward a few years ago and had limited success.

We got to a league final from a competitive Division 1 without Paul Galvin playing any part in the team and Declan missed most of the games too but how we will manage in the white heat of a Munster final and hopefully beyond in the summer without them is yet to be seen. Time for one or 2 players to step up and its a great opportunity for them. No point in moaning about the loss of either Galvin or Declan, its time to back the players in the panel. They are either good enough to step up or should not be in the panel in the first place.

The kid brother was talking to him during the week. Expected recovery time after the surgery is 3-6 weeks. Fingers crossed.
