BBC reporting that 10 people turned up at a student protest rally regarding police heavy handedness on the 17th. The rest must still be stuck in the hatfield

It was the Socialist Workers Party protesting. Wouldn't say anybody there protesting actually lives in the Holylands. Just a typical lunatic left protest against any form of organised law & order.
As I dream about movies they won't make of me when I'm dead

Think one of them protesting was vice-president of UUJ students union could be wrong but thought I seen him

Trouble broke out in the area on St Patrick's Day

A 16-year-old boy is to face charges connected with St Patrick's Day disturbances in the Holyland area of south Belfast.

Riot police were called to the area after house parties spilled out onto the streets. A minority threw missiles and a car was badly damaged.

Nineteen people were arrested following the disturbances.

The teenager is due to appear before Belfast Youth Court on 30 April, charged with disorderly behaviour.

A special inquiries team set up following the disturbances have issued a fresh appeal for information.

Just announced on the 10.30 news there now.
Now would this mean that the young lad is a local and not a student??

There is no way of determining if this boy was a local or someone staying with students because his details will not be released to the press as it would be against the child protection laws. However from all the arrests that were made we can determine that students were involved but it also contained a large proportion of non students, of which a proportion of local youths may have been involved.

The place was littered with hoods, it was evident on the videos shown on the news, unless of course fellas not from the city have started to wear air maxes and trackie bottoms with a pair of white socks hangin out the bottom...cant see it though.

£350 for swearing at a cop is a bit much.
Awful excuse though - he was confused!

QuoteHis solicitor said that he was unfamiliar with the Holyland area of Belfast and that, combined with the alcohol he had consumed, caused him to become confused and to behave out of character.
