AZ mentioned it on the other thread, impossible to pick one from the entire country so the only rule is you have to have seen them play in the flesh and you can only nominate for your own province.

Connacht :

Gay Sheerin - Roscommon
Kenneth Mortimer - Mayo
Peter Forde - Mayo
Enon Gavin - Roscommon
Deccie Meehan - Galway
James Nallen - Mayo
Sean Og De Paor - Galway
Kevin Walshe - Galway
Liam McHale - Mayo
Eammon O'Hara - Sligo
Ciaran McDonald - Mayo
Michael Donnellan - Galway
Ja Fallon - Galway
Padraig Joyce - Galway

Tried to be fair, had to put Ja at 13 just to fit both him and O'Hara in. Bloody harder than I thought

Now you're sucking Diesel. It's still going to be very hard to do but...

1. Martin Furlong (Uibh Fhailí)

2. Damien Healy (Iar Mhí)
3. Mick Lyons (An Mhí)
4. Robbie O'Malley (An Mhí)

5. Anthony Rainbow (Cill Dara)
6. Liam Harnan (An Mhí)
7. Martin O'Connell (An Mhí)

8. Brian Mullins (Ath Cliath)
9. Gerry McEntee (An Mhí)

10. Kevin O'Brien (Cill Mhantain)
11. Matt Connor (Uibh Fhailí)
12. Graham Geraghty (An Mhí)

13. Bernard Flynn (An Mhí)
14. Colm O'Rourke (An Mhí)
15. Dessie Barry (Long Fort)

I suppose my team reflects a strong Meath bias because they are the last Leinster team to really compete at All Ireland level consistanty. Not too many modern Leinster players, and I suppose that reflects how the province has struggled over the last while, although lads like Graham Geraghty, Trevor Giles, Johnny Doyle, Darren Fay and co would not be embarrassed on it. The great Dublin team of the mid-late 70s came a little before my time, but i do remember seeing Brian Mullins a few times, and he was a giant of a man. He only loses out to Jack O'Shea on my All-Ireland team.

Martin Furlong was a fantastic goalkeeper, and appeared in Every All Ireland that Offaly won until they won the Under 21 in 1988. He was minor in 64, and Senior in 71, 72 and 82, culminating in the penalty save from Mikey Sheehy that day. He also was a 4 time All Star winner, the first in 1972, and the last in 1983, which culminated a 3 in a row!

Matt Connor was Matt Connor.

For the rest, I believe Damien Healy was a major factor in Westmeath's brief flirtation (thank God :D) with the big time, and I think he'd have made any team in the country. I opted for Anthony Rainbow at half back ahead of lads like Paul Curren, because I always felt Rainbow was the epitome to me of a fit, athletic, attacking half back. I went for Kevin O'Brien and Dessie Barry in the forwards, ahead of some seriously big names like Trevor Giles, Barney Rock, Brian Stafford etc. etc because I genuinely thought they were both excellent players, and would have made any of the other county teams at their time.

Surely anyone with Francie Bellew at full back is having a laugh! Dont think Id have Ryan McMenamin at corner back either - if I was going to pick someone from Tyrone at corner back it would have to be Fay Devlin.

A good selection but having seen the great Dermot Earley playing for Roscommon in his later years i would have to stick him in also Noel Tierney playing for the herring chokers...always broke Mayo hearts.

Ciaran Whelan hound? (Not picking, just interested, especially at half forward). I was toying with the idea of Kieran Duff myself.
