I just caught the end of a news report about the death penalty, in particular stoning, the stones cannot be too small as these would not cause enough damage, and they cannot be too large as this would cause death too quickly.

No harm in the Archbishop giving his views on the matter, I imagine it would be fine if operated on the same basis as Community Restorative Justice schemes in republican areas in the North.  Statutory and common law would take precedence, but in certain Muslim areas an appropriate community penalty with reparation and rehabilitation at its core could be agreed upon, hopefully meaning the perpetrator will feel remorse and shame at his actions and not reoffend.
