some posters seem to be obsessed with pointing to instances of hypocrisy within gaa circles as a way of justifying the argument that Inter county players should be paid. a few of us have been doing our best to make them realise that although there are glaring instances of hypocrisy throughout the gaa which need to be rectified immediately, this cannot be used as a reason to justify payments to players.

so i have started this thread so as to have a place to  identify instances of hypocrisy in the gaa and how we can go about getting rid of them.

definitely lynchbhoy. all very valid points except the point about jobs. if someone wants to give someone a job for whatever reason it is up to them, gaa can do nothing about it.

what about trainers doing the rounds training maybe 2 or 3 different club and getting 100 to 150 per session

People who slam club committees and county boards for administrating our games in the ways they do, without ever presenting a logical, viable and realistic alternative.

People who profess an undying love of the game of football , but are continually looking for changes to the rules.

People who profess that hurling is a better game than football, but in truth wouldn't watch the game even if was being played in their back yard.

The amount referees get paid and the freebies that the suits of the county, provincial and National boards pick up.

Not necesarily always a bad thing. you have always to strive to improve. free kicks from the hand was a progressive change.

Players having salaries replaced in return for sacraficing work time to train semi professionally, eg. going part time.

Talking about the TV deals being carried out in the interest of the GAA fan, and to best showcase our games to the widest possible audience. Then selling a chunk of them to the highest bidder, Setanta, a subscription channel, and TV3 a channel extremely hard to pick up in vast swathes of the north. We give out a lot about the TV/radio coverage of our games especially up north but the GAA to jack shit about our concerns behind the scenes.
Brennan's speech in Bundoran last week was nothing more than a bargaining tool to put the squeeze on the television companies in the current negotiations.

definitely something which needs to be eradicated.

these are all very valid points which will now hopefully be taken up by ordinary memebrs through the proper channels to ensure that they can be dealt with appropriately.

i still cannot see how these instances of hypocrisy can be used to justify the argument that gaa players should receive money for taking part in their hobby.

Are there seriously trainers getting that much per session?
If you were any use you'd be playing.

Brennan stating that he would like the clubs to receive payment as as form of compensation for the players going to Australia despite the fact that the Gaa is an amateur organisation

this thread is about hypocrisy in the gaa, not changes you would like to see being made. seeing as you have been pointing out instances of hypocrisy on other threads this past few days im sure you'll have no bother making a proper contribution here.

why dont you start up your own thread on changes the gaa could make to improve itself. or better still why dont you and your pro semi professionalism mates set up your own rival association.
